In this Corner of the Universe, Rosanna Roces versus Revilla Family

Posted by CelebritiesCorner on Sunday, March 11th, 2007 @ 6:33 pm in Entertainment.

Parang sinabi niyang like grandfather, like father, like son. Uhm yon na.

Migrants Manifesto for Issue based Electoral Contest

Posted by Cyber Pedestrian Observer Viewpoint on Sunday, March 11th, 2007 @ 2:12 pm in Politics.

We, the Overseas Filipinos worldwide, urge each and everyone in the coming May electoral contest to implore all political parties, emerging parties and their respective candidates to bring forth a platform based campaign so that the electorate can choose credible persons who are worthy to lead the nation. In order to advance democratic governance in the Philippines, there should be a structure or process of reform that promotes increasingly participatory and accountable governance. In this context, the will and voice of the people should be respected at all times and the sanctity of the ballots must be safeguarded. The root causes of human insecurity in the Philippines – and thus, threats to overall peace and development – include conditions of inequity, with an elite few...

KUYA TED’s candidacy symbolizes OFW EMPOWERMENT

Posted by Cyber Pedestrian Observer Viewpoint on Sunday, March 11th, 2007 @ 2:03 pm in Politics.

Election season is upon us once more, sort of a fiesta celebration as if the nation has turned into one big tent of a traveling circus. Some sectors gleefully welcome the event in anticipation of some “manna” from heaven hopefully not from Juan de la Cruzes own pocket or some sleazy Jueteng Lord profiting from the gullible public thinking that luck may one day struck them like getting hit by lightning in the middle of nowhere. It’s the season of imagined empowerment where politicians peddle their wares of broken promises with a coterie of celebrities in tow wowing the public complete with Boom tarat tarat, boom tarat tarat Tararat tararat, boom boom boom blaring music dancing in frenzy. Hundreds of millions of pesos are back in circulation where candidates of different characters and...

Social Cost of Migration for Women OFW

Posted by Cyber Pedestrian Observer Viewpoint on Sunday, March 11th, 2007 @ 1:58 pm in Politics.

The Cyber Istambay celebrates (trying hard to earn “pogi” points) with Women from all walks of life in celebration of International Women’s Day. A day that reminds us to honor the role of women in our lives and society appreciating their contribution, without them our existence in these world would be meaningless and dreadful. Yes, Virginia so they say you have come a long way you have earned your way in asserting your equality with bastards errrr men like us but don’t push it too far now……… equal but not superior hehehe. As I was mulling how to celebrate women’s day I chance upon an article at Philippine Inquirer on the social cost of migration and the growing social problem of incest. The title of the article Incest on the rise with feminization of overseas labor by Veronica UY...

Lea Salonga: Saigon Waif No more

Posted by jun.anteola on Sunday, March 11th, 2007 @ 12:22 pm in Personal - Philippines.

Earlier, I posted a Youtube video of Lea rehearsing, and it pretty much gave an idea of how she’d be singing the signature Fantine song, I Dreamed A Dream. Now come the first few pictures of her in full costume, and with the cast. It’s a good thing they didn’t give her those hideous, [...]

The Women of Karl Bang

Posted by jun.anteola on Sunday, March 11th, 2007 @ 9:57 am in Personal - Philippines.

Beautiful women, who doesn’t like them? Our opinions of beauty may differ just as much as each woman is unique from the other, but each concept is as valid and convincing as anyone would want us to believe. How do we define the beauty of women? And how is one to present it so that [...]

Dogvolution

Posted by Carpe Diem on Sunday, March 11th, 2007 @ 7:00 am in Personal - Philippines.

Dogs are said to be the first animal that man has been able to domesticate.. therefore truly deserving the label as "man's bestfriend": man and dogs really go way way wayback.

Fast forward to present day, we see dogs in the cartoons, we watch them in movies, and they live with us...

There's no denying to the fact that i have this big love for dogs . But right now, i don't have one. Aside from the fact that i dont think i can squeeze it with our tight schedule, my kids have allergy to furs/ dog hairs. I wish someday, I can teach my kids the responsibility of taking care and looking after a dog.

Anyhoo, without further ado, i hereby dedicate this blog to all of you dog-lovers of the world ;)

A Strength Often Overlooked

Posted by jun.anteola on Sunday, March 11th, 2007 @ 3:45 am in Personal - Philippines.

One day a small boy tried to lift a heavy stone, but couldn’t budge it. His father, watching, finally said, “Are you sure you are using all your strength?” “Yes, I am!” the boy cried. “No, you’re not,” said the father. “You haven’t asked me to help you.”
