M.Y.M.P. - Nakapagtataka (Pinoy Music Series #3)

Posted by msquareone.com on Thursday, March 22nd, 2007 @ 11:20 am in Personal - International.

Up next for the Pinoy Music Series is a band called M.Y.M.P with their rendition of the song Nakapagtataka which was originally sung by the Apo Hiking Society.

I had the pleasure of watching this group at The Grove in Anaheim when we were last in California.  What a great show with another great band, South Border.  (I'll feature them on Pinoy Music Series) in the future.

Hope you enjoy this clip.  It's one of my favorites.

A Band from the Philippines which is known for its revival songs. MYMP is very known in the Filipino music scene and one of the most successful group. The well known duo of JURIS(Guitarist) and Juris ( Vocalist) captivated the ears of many Filipinos especially the young ones.
This is a live performance held in MUSIC MUSEUM.

All in a Day’s Work

Posted by Everywhere and Here. on Thursday, March 22nd, 2007 @ 5:16 am in Personal - Philippines.

I work full-time but I still take on side voicing projects. I've been doing this since 1989 (Stop doing the math! I'm thirty-something!) My voice was 'discovered' when I started working in radio at a station called 99.5RT back when it was one of the best around. Nowadays, it's... changed. And gotten itself a new name - Hit 995...

But I digress. Sorry. I'm a woman who hasn't Vox-ed recently so forgive me.

Anyway.

I was asked by my former employer, major television network, GMA to voice a then hush-hush script for a re-launch of its subsidiary. Wow. Since working in a corporate job three years ago, I have had to turn down lots of commercials and the like, so this offer came as a surprise. Not just one but THREE projects were given to me.

So I voiced the new plug, the accompanying AVP (audio-visual presentation) and the live announcements at the press launch!

The last is where I was at last night - at the very posh Greenbelt 2 in Makati at Mezze. I was surrounded by local celebrities and the rich people I normally only read about in the society pages... (Guilty! So I peek...)

The project? The re-launch of Qtv. They've moved up their demographic target from C and D, to A and upper B.

And where exactly was I amidst the pseudo-royalty? Hidden away next to the director with the rest of the hired production hands.

Didn't get any autographs or pictures. Puh-leeze. I just read about these people. But I did get to sample the yummy appetizers that a kind waiter passed around for us the 'people not dressed for a press launch and from a different socio-economic bracket'.

All in all, it was an interesting night.

you may only bring one comfort entity

Philosophy orals next week. My professor blogged to remind us of that fact, along with these:

A few reminders:

1) If you don't show up, F. I still love you, but, F.
2) If you show up late, you can only use however little time you have left (I will not inconvenience the rest for you).
3) Wait quietly at the corridor.
4) You may only bring one comfort entity.
5) Your comfort entity must not speak or instruct you or make any noise whatsoever.
6) Do not wear anything that will distract me.
7) Do not smell stinky/overpoweringly good.
8) If you have an urgent appointment that will cause you to miss your slot, make sure you contact me BEFORE your scheduled slot or else rule number one applies.

A few helpful tips:

1) Try to recall each article's main idea, and remember whose idea is whose.
2) Try to relate each main idea to your life.
3) Be prepared for unforeseeable circumstances.
4) I suggest that you be honest if you forgot something. Bullshit tends to flat-out enrage me.
5) Actually honesty is the best policy almost all the time.
6) I will ask you questions that seem to have nothing to do with the oral exam. But it is the oral exam, trust me.
7) The teacher Anton is measuring you, the student. But the human, Anton, is not measuring you, the human being. Relax man. We're all just wounded people.

Have I mentioned I love this class?
