Before the Graduation

Okies... so our batch had our baccalaureate mass this morning... our last mass ever as Pisay students. And it was like a semi formal party since girls were in dresses and skirts. It was pretty amusing for me to see some people who dressed differently than usual. Then we had the ...

Infanticipating

Posted by Top Dog on Monday, March 26th, 2007 @ 8:30 am in Personal - Philippines.

I should be studying for the last quiz on a subject I am in danger of failing, but here I am fantasizing that someone would buy my blog and writing a new entry immediately after that.

But I just had to let this off my chest.

Today I saw uhm, how do I say this, one of my highschool love. Well, we were not really together, but we sorta were. Explaining this would require a whole new blog entry altogether.

Going back on topic, she alighted the same bus I was already in. I was seated right in front, near the center lane. Yes, she saw me. And I definitely saw her - in all her infanticipating glory!

Yes, the once sweet, timid, pink-loving girl I once was crazy for was pregnant. Knocked up. With child. Preggers.

But I knew this already. A couple of friends reported the news to me a months back. I believed them but seeing her and her big tummy for real was a different experience altogether.

She was beautiful. She has always been, but there's a different glow to her now.

Sadly, we did not talk. I did not even have the courage to say a simple "Hi". I just looked on the other direction. It was strange. Weird. Awkward.

Ever since I screwed up on her the second time, we have not talked again. We see each other once in a while, but we pretend that the other does not exist. There was a time where I wanted her back (for the third time), but she did not return my messages.

I know that I'm an asshole, jerk, dumbfuck. Call me whatever you like. But if you're miraculously reading this, please, I want to be friends with you. This time, for real. I want to see your great smile which I missed so much. The past few times I see you, I saw a sad face. Maybe I'm wrong. I hope I'm wrong. I want to be able to meet your future baby. I want everything to be settled.

I would have talked to you today but I am afraid you did not want to. You covered your tummy when you saw me but there's no need to do that. I am so proud of you for choosing to have this baby. So please, get in touch with me.

You know who you are.

BOGUS PARTY LISTS

Posted by Pedestrian Observer on Monday, March 26th, 2007 @ 1:50 am in Politics.

A follow up article on the Questionable OFW Party list.

This Ahon Pinoy brouhaha is getting interesting and from Manny Amora came this blog from a so-called “philosopher”, named Lloyd Luna a “webdeologist” whatever the hell that means:

“To those who don’t know yet, I’m helping my friend Klink Ang, the President and CEO of The Manila Times on his nomination in the Congress to represent AHON PINOY Party List, a party-list for OFWs. To me, helping him is already a privilege.”

Ok, so now we know and glad we are learning more of this “confederation of women network” (according to votester) disguising as Champion of OFW Party. At least the guy is “honest” confessing like the self confessed little brother Jose Pidal and Lady Telebabad on her “indiscretion” (yeah, sure I believe that uhuh) that gives us some insights on what this is all about. Will someone please tell this “Pilosopong webdeologist” that the party list is intended for marginalized sectors and his chicken (as in manok di bah) running as representative of the OFWs when he is the CEO of MT. Here’s another “good” one from Mr. “webdeologist”, motivational (If you ask me it’s more of motivational conspiracy to screw the OFW sector) speaker:

“Today, I personally meet his campaign manager, his dad, Sec. Dante Ang of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas. We scheduled this meeting on Thursday after Ian and I visited him in his office in Osmena Highway. I thought I would just present the initial website study but when Klink and I got there (at the Bayview Hotel which was originally set in their office in Aduana), we just had some chit chat and eat.

Sec. Dante Ang, from nowhere, said if the party wins he will surely ask to be a consultant. If they would win three slots, then I would have three consultancies, he said.

Hah, there it is in black and white patronage politics in digital form for the world to see. Now what in heaven’s name was that all about, don’t they know that Father don’t know best should not get himself involve directly or indirectly in his son’s campaign. Either they are too deluded or think they can just get away with Akbayan’s electioneering charges or they think they are untouchable. In countries where people adhere to strict ethics and code of conduct they resign their public position or take a leave of absence if they are to get involve in campaigning for anyone not just close relatives.

This “webdeologist” is promised 3 by the Elder Ang the campaign manager, yes you got it 3 consultancy if they win with the required number may just get such and what is in store for OFWs, nothing but bogus representation. What about that Klink, so you say you are your own man, uhuh yeah I believe that. You are your own man alright but daddy dearest directs the campaign and offering people position in your “future pork barrel tongressional” seat contradicts your “feeling insulted” with Ms. Rosales.

There are a lot of people in the OFW sector and not one I repeat NOT ONE has ever claimed or deluded themselves into thinking they are the champion of the Migrants. I am sorry Klink Klunk but I have never heard of you or what exactly it is that you have done to deserve such distinguished “champion” of the migrants title.

And then we have another anonymous feedback on the article wherein he sees the uncanny similarity of Ahon’s website header with that of the government website http://www.gov.ph/ . Hmmmmn, looks fishy to me and I hope these people are not squandering government resources to further their questionable ends.

Let me end this with Manny’s sentiments and repost the 11 questionable party lists supported by a convicted rapist, confessed Jueteng bagman, elder brother of Abalos, reincarnated vigilantes and numerous characters of the self admiration club of rejects:

"Are they legitimate OFWs? Who sacrifice loneliness away from home and love ones, poured tears and blood for our motherland to uplift our economic condition? Are they truly Bagong Bayani?"

Questionable Newly Accredited Party-list Organizations listed by Akbayan

AANGAT TAYO- Philippine International Trading Corporation (PITC) Pharma Executives Vice President Teddie Elson Rivera is the group’s president. PITC is a government-owned international trading company with over thirty years experience in the export, import and marketing of a wide range of commodities, industrial products and consumer goods.

In August of 2004, PITC was designated as a key agency in the implementation of the GMA’s 10-point legacy, which includes the lowering of the prices of essential medicines by 50%, by 2010. PITC is also in charged of importing medicines for GMA’s Botika ng Bayan.

Aangat ang Kabuhayan (ANAK) -Its number one nominee is Supt. Eduardo Octaviano of the Philippine National Police (PNP) National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

AGBIAG!- Marcelo Farinas II, Malacanang’s Secretary for External Affairs is the group’s Secretary-General. Agbiag enjoys the backing of Chavit Singson.

As if the likelihood of fraud is not bad enough in the national and local level it now appears that the party list system is the subject of abuse and outright bastardization of the process. What’s up with this, where are we headed with all these?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update 4/2/07 3:00pm

GMA news came up with this sketchy report:

The Urban Poor for Legal Reforms (UP-LR) and Bantay R.A. 7941 (the law that created the party-list system) have sought the disqualification of 44 sectoral nominees led by Biyaheng Pinoy bets lawyer Jesus Cruz and Dr. Arsenio Abalos.

The two groups argue that Cruz, being the incumbent vice mayor of Mandaluyong City, and Abalos, brother of Comelec Chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr, could not represent Biyaheng Pinoy which is a tricycle drivers’ organization.

Myrna Porcare, UP-LR secretary general, said some people have sought the “bastardization" of the party-list system to deprive the poor from being represented in government.

“Do you believe that a transport group would be represented by a doctor who is a brother of the chairman and by one who is a vice mayor?," she asked.

“The party-list system was set up for the poor. The way it is happening now, the rich are stealing the rights of the poor," she added.

The poll body’s legal department has been refusing media access to the list of party-list nominees saying that doing so would defeat the spirit of sectoral representation.

The 41 party list groups whose nominees are being asked to be disqualified are:

Blood: The Last Vampire Movie

Posted by HyukTa.net on Sunday, March 25th, 2007 @ 8:12 am in Personal - Philippines.

I think Mics beat me into posting about this. ^^ ; This is rather old news anyway. Blood: The Last Vampire will be made into a live action movie. Saya, the leading character, will be portrayed by Jun Ji-hyun or Ji-hyun Jun. o_O Whichever is correct.

Production I.G agrees to Ronny Yu’s Blood live-action remake.Production I.G has announced that ‘Blood the Last Vampire,’ produced in 2000, will be made into a live action movie by company French Pathe. Production I.G has given it’s consent. Pathe will spend approximately 20 million Euro (US$25 million) on the production. With shooting scheduled
to start in January 2007, a worldwide theatrical release is expected in spring 2008.

The original movie won best animation at the 4th Japan Media Arts Festival and spawned a TV-series ‘Blood+’ produced from 2005 to 2006. Copyright holder Production I.G. gave it’s consent for a live action production by French Pathe through American video distributor Manga Entertainment.

Pathe is the largest independent film studio in France, producing movies, distributing them and managing their movie licenses. The movie will be produced by Bill Kong (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; Hero) and directed by Ronny Yu (Freddy vs. Jason). Ji-hyun Jun (My Sassy Girl, Windstruck) will star as lead Saya. The international production aims for a world wide audience.

Production I.G was not payed for the license, but will instead to receive royalties from all revenue created by the movie. Generally, when manga and
anime are adapted into live-action movies outside of Japan, remake rights are usually sold for a flat fee, which in the case of a hit, bars the original copyright holder of further revenue.

If the movie is a hit, this will lead to a sharp increase in revenue through ticket and dvd sales. Since the movie’s theatrical release is expected in spring 2008, impact on Production I.G’s profits is likely to be seen 2009 or later.

Take a peek into an ordinary life - a tricycle ride! A motorcycle that is supposed to carry only 2 or a maximum of three people can now accommodate 7 passengers excluding the driver. A contraption is attached to the bike that seats 4 people while 3 others are asked to sit behind the driver. Comfort is definitely out of the question, and nobody is complaining. Rather than walk a long way, people would rather suffer to squeeze their butt in to fit in the small claustrophobic space.

Out and about

Posted by Top Dog on Saturday, March 24th, 2007 @ 3:39 pm in Personal - Philippines.

The term is ending and my body is being battered again. It was Friday and I concluded that I needed to reward myself.

I was out and about after my last class which ended at 6 PM. I went to the nearest decent place I could think of, SM Mall of Asia.

I was in time to catch the fireworks. Despite having seen the shebang a dozen of times, it still excites me to an extent.

While waiting for the show, I took some requisite mall pictures.

100_3833
100_3855
100_3867

After the fireworks, I immediately felt the hunger inside my stomach. My last food intake was the brunch I had at 9:30 AM. Since I'm trying to save dough to pay off my iPod nano, I got supper at everyone's favorite joint, Jollibee.

100_3874

It's amazing how they have the guts to label themselves as fast-food when my food probably would not arrive if I didn't do a follow-up. And get this, I made the follow-up 10 minutes after I placed my order. I know Jollibee serves volumes of people but they sure can improve their service.

Their 39-ers was surprisingly good, and by good I meant it was plentiful enough to fill me up. My stomach has been empty for around 9 hours or so and I would gladly take whatever I could get. Be it shit like the lumpiang shanghai I got or not.

Feeling full and bloated, I decided I needed to take a walk. I discovered that the Bowling Center is opening on the 1st of May. That's good news! I also passed by Topman which is a must. A few meters ahead, a bunch of people were abuzzing. Apparently, the launching of Paris Hilton's Heiress perfume was downstairs.

100_3883

There were a handful of well-dressed guests. I am guessing they are trying to be part of the who's who of high society based on the number of photogs clicking at them. Great! Skanks attending a skank's launching. I kid.

100_3880

I saw a bunch of people huddling beside Marionnaud, and naturally I decided to check it out. I did not realize I was beside Tim Yap before doing his thing in front of the camera.

100_3886

How could I possibly not notice him with that fuchsia ensemble and heavy clown-like makeup?! He was actually taller than what I expected.

I was this close to asking him for a photo, but the inner Proud Philip in me prevailed. So I settled with the stolen photo above. I left the area chuckling because my friends and I had this Tim Yap joke which I suddenly remembered. I chuckled, and left the site.

I was craving for blueberry cheesecake, and since my usual dessert haunt Chocolat does not have that, I went to Conlin's instead. They've got a small and cozy interior. While waiting, I drooled over the chairs. I want them for our house.

100_3888

And looked at the paintings that they were actually selling.

100_3890

I eventually decided to be seated outside. And this was how I accidentally discovered the most secluded, quiet, and peaceful area inside the Mall of Asia.

100_3894

It was beside the IMAX Theater and has a great view of the Hotel Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, plus the parking lot. This is where I peacefully enjoyed my delicious blueberry cheesecake.

100_3891

Having satisfied my craving, I went for another stroll and ended up in Powerbooks. It has been a while since I have read a comic book so it was very refreshing for me. It was getting late so I decided to make my way home.

But a crazy idea hit me - I wanted to get some drinks. No, not because I saw Tim Yap, nor because I got to read a few pages of a Dilbert comic book. But because I wanted to take my mind off the disastrous quiz I took that noon. Because I suddenly missed our org's party, and well, because I missed drinking alcohol.

Off I went to Mojito Bay, where else. I love Mojito Bay!

100_3898

They offer cheap drinks and even better, give 50% discounts on selected drinks. Woohoo! They actually give discounts from 8 PM to midnight, unlike a place I know near school, which offers cheaper beers at noon.

I asked the waiter which drinks were on discounts, and he mistakenly included some drinks which I remembered were not included the last time I went here. Nevertheless, I ordered a new drink - blue pineapple shuffle. It was actually greenish.

100_3901

Over at the other table were a handful of Chinese men with a bunch of whores, complete with a female pimp! It was actually my first time seeing this scenario, and I was really really amused. I would've taken a picture if I was drunk. Fortunately, I wasn't. Minutes later, one of the guys handed some cash to the pimp, right in front of me. I thought how a lucky bastard I was for witnessing this.

Thus, I ordered another drink. As I was suspicious of a discount-related error, I asked the female waitress again which drinks were discounted. Yes, the shuffle was not included. Here I was trying to save as much moolah as I can by going to Jollibee, only to blow it all over a cocktail. But I was feeling happy, so I ordered a mojito.

100_3903

I really love that drink.

On the street downstairs is this band performing in front of a group of seated people. Apparently, the Mall of Asia is now offering a buffet dinner with a live band performance. I do not know if I like that idea, since the band that night was playing sucky music. Heck, I caught a few couples doing some ballroom dancing on the streets! In front of dozens of people. I could just smile at their nonchalance.

Feeling tipsy (and happy), I decided it was time to head home for good. But the waiters put all their attention on the Chinese men and their bimbos that it took me years(i.e. 30 minutes) just to get their attention.

I got my bill, but it did not include the mojito I ordered. For a split-second there I actually considered to keep my mouth shut and just pay for the shuffle, but being the good guy I really am, despite feeling just a bit tipsy, I paid for the two drinks.

I headed home, just in time for Pinoy Big Brother. I slept, I woke up with a mild hangover. I felt shit. All week long I lacked sleep.

Sometimes I wonder why I continue to drink alcohol despite feeling really shitty the next day with a stomachache, headache, and muscle pain.

Because I'm weird like that.

In this Corner of the Universe, Diet Ocampo and Kristine Hermosa

Ambien wakes up the brain damaged

Since vacation started, I felt FREE! D There will be no assignments or projects to worry about for the meantime. I plan to make this a productive vacation — BY PLAYING FFXII NONSTOP! XDDD I’m serious. I had this FFXII withdrawal. Last term, I tried to play the game whenever I get free time. But my free time was always spent on band practices. It’s for the bands (my dad’s and K. Wasabi), I know. I just miss playing. ~_~ Playing games is a good way for me to relieve stress from school. You can’t imagine how I almost spent many sleepless nights because of Plumbing workouts and assignments. I wished for all those to be over, so I could play. I emo-d because of FFXII. *rofl* Anyway, there isn’t much progress on my game. I’ve been hunting and leveling-up. Most of my characters are level 41. Once I reach level 42 or 43 (depends on when I start to get bored), I’ll start my travel to Archades. I’m already in Phon Coast. Almost near to Archades. But I’m transporting to other places just for the hunts. ^^ I get good items when I hunt. I won’t have to spend much money for items that way. ^_^

Gawd, the summer heat will kill me. ~_~ If I can only transfer my pc out of my room, I would. Only that would be too much hassle. I’ve been staying home; afraid that the sun will scorch my skin. XD Phoebe and I met up last week. I think that was last week. We just had coffee in Starbucks Walter Mart, talked about our friends, love life, etc. etc. ^_^ And we also smoked. Hooray for LUNG CANCER! XDDD J/k! I joined a forum (forum name won’t be disclosed here) and there was someone who posted about wanting people to smoke in a smoking area/room. That’s not a bad idea. Some bars/restaurants here in Makati have implemented that. But what I didn’t like about what he said after was that he wanted all the smokers to die in those smoking areas/rooms. I’m not going to say this in defense for the smokers or because I’m a smoker. Saying you want them to die is already a sin. That’s what I recall learning from my former catholic school. If they didn’t mean you any harm, you have NO RIGHT to say that. Even though you say that because smoking is harmful to their health, THAT IS THEIR CHOICE. They know that. They know the consequence. LET THEM BE. You can’t curse these people if you want them to respect you (want them to smoke in the right place, etc.). Respect them if you want respect back. People will probably tell me that every person has the right to say what they want. You forget, there’s a limit to the things you can say.

Our school’s enrollment was last week, but I didn’t go. I’m too lazy and I bet there aren’t subjects open for EnSE students. As usual, we would have to request for opening of these damn subjects. I only got to reserve a slot for OJT. I think there’s only 6 students (including me) who reserved. I heard that the OJT from batch 2003 is different. That could be the reason for the limited students. P I’m so not looking forward to school.

Maru left this morning for his month-long vacation in the US and Canada (he’s visiting his GIRLFRIEND!). ^_^ Although I’m glad he’s going to see his girlfriend after so many months, I’m going to miss our HYD2 & Code Geass nights. XD We were able to watch the former’s last episode last Tuesday. We didn’t wait for SARS’s subs because he wanted to watch it before he leaves. I did get the SARS’ version just for consistency. ^_^ (I updated my trade & distro site, btw.)

< RANDOM > I unsubscribed from Tokidoki Blog… It’s tempting me to buy one of the uber cute bags. _ < /RANDOM >

Like Crocs

Posted by Top Dog on Saturday, March 24th, 2007 @ 4:34 am in Personal - Philippines.

Despite the recent blogging buzz, I bought myself my own pair of rubber clogs.

No, not Crocs. It is just too expensive. I got a cheap imitation from SM instead.

Everyone at school thought they were the real deal, but I told them it only costed me 160 bucks. I got a few weird remarks, which was fine by me. I myself was thought Crocs are ugly were when I first saw them. But maybe that's why I bought a similar pair myself, because they are ugly.

I'm weird like that.
