The VA Tech Tragedy. (excerpt)

Posted by Get A Life ™ on Wednesday, April 18th, 2007 @ 11:43 pm in Personal - International.

On the Facebook social networking community, I was surprised to see how many groups were dedicated to hatred towards Cho Seung-Hui and toward anyone who is not like-minded in hating Cho. Some groups were even demonstrating racism and hostility toward Koreans. There are other groups, however, that were developed to show support, mostly through prayer [...]

The VA Tech Tragedy.

Got this from http://allans.wordpress.com/   Through facebook, I came across a blog that gives a student’s impression of Cho. Cho took a theater class at VT and was hostile or unfriendly to all his classmates. From the blog, you can read two plays that Cho wrote. Click here to read them. The plays give insight into Cho’s inner [...]

Down Times.

Took this picture during the time when I was down. Sto. Niño de Cebu. There are times when we are down and we don’t know where to turn to. I am not devout but I still have faith. Been so down lately. Been thinking about ending it all. But it’s not worth it. I need to have a break. Refresh. Renew. Relax. Need [...]

Gawd, I’m so hungry and freaking annoyed with the noisy campaigns going on outside. ~_~

I Wish Upon a Star - Part 2 BLAST released the second installment of I Wish Upon a Star the other day. Please go to #blast in IRCHighway to get the release. Please don’t be a LEECHER. There are some who went there to download the dj, but left as soon as they got it. That’s not nice at all. &gt_&lt As usual, the group is looking for translators and editors. Raw providers are needed as well, but not a high priority at the moment. I’m thinking of scanlating other yaoi titles. But I would need people to help out. I can’t do the editing on my own. At the moment, only 3 are working regularly for the group. That includes me. *sighs* I WISH SOME PEOPLE WOULD HELP. *cries* (I’m already desperate.)

I’m about to transfer pictures from my cellphone to my computer. ^^ There is about 2mb left free space in the phone. It sucks my phone’s memory can’t be expanded (it doesn’t have a memory card slot), but it’s not that big of a deal when I can just use the digicam. ^_^ Other recent accomplishments from my to-do list: edit html coding of face website and re-upload it, delete duplicate pictures of my Leandro Okabe photo collection *lol* , delete pictures I’ve already copied to my computer from my cellphone, ranted/reviewed Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge ep. 19, and finalize my load for this term. I feel pretty much organized with Google’s personal homepages. ^_^ I was tempted to try Netvibes, but Google’s pretty much does it job. Of course, it wouldn’t be that useful if it weren’t for that to-do widget. I can do most of my to-do list right away when I check there instead of making a text file or blogging about it.

School started this Monday. Fuck. I’d prefer staying inside and doing NOTHING instead of having to go to school everyday in this HEAT. People who wish of going to school instead of just staying home this summer are CRAZY PEOPLE. WTH. It’s hard to concentrate in this damn heat. It’s damn humid even. A little movement would cause me to sweat. It’s that hot. ~_~ I wish I could turn my ac on 24/7 this summer, but my parents will kill me. That will make our electricity bill sky high. Again, crazy kids should rethink about wanting to go to school this summer. That’s why there are summer breaks! Who can even focus in this kind of heat??? You’ll get a heat stroke from this. ARGH.

*breathes deeply* Sorry, going to school with this heat is just getting on my nerves.

This morning I found out about the VA shooting. I am shocked that something like this is happening once more. ~_~ Lez has a point on what caused the Korean guy to go on a shooting spree. The people around him should have been friendlier to him unless he was like that ever since he was little. He should also have made an effort to become open-minded and accepted the fact that people are just like that. There will always be bad and good people. Killing doesn’t necessarily change people in an instant. The next generation wouldn’t be that affected with this massacre. Unless they become saint-like. That would be… Scary. *sweatdrop* I hope I didn’t offend anyone. We are entitled to our own opinion. Also, this is my blog. STFU if you’re going to flame or whatever. XP Anyway, it’s sad this had to happen. There are many ways to get people’s attention and this is one of those no one should ever do.

I’m so sleepy. ~_~ I think my antibiotics are causing drowsiness. My antibiotics are for my left jaw that has been hurting for 2 weeks now. I could barely open my mouth. I always try to open my mouth wide, but the pain is too much. My jaws snap too. The snapping doesn’t bring pain. I’m only afraid my jaw would disjoint. *bah* I woke up at 5AM today. Haha~ XD; So early… I fell asleep after Reyton and Mac left after band practice last night. I got to apologize to Mac. He waited for my text message. ^^;

I’m going to watch Genshiken ep. 14 before I start burning PoT.

ONE DAY BLOG SILENCE

Posted by Pedestrian Observer on Wednesday, April 18th, 2007 @ 4:38 pm in Politics.

Remember the date APRIL 30, 2007 in honor of the victims of the tragedy at VIRGINIA Tech let's all observe a day of silence. I will not only honor the victims of this latest tragedy but as a Filipino will extend this to other victims of unjustifiable horrific violence. I will extend this to honor those that fell in the hands of tyrants and men in uniform in their extra-judicial killing spree of human rights victims in the Philippines. Please spread the message, get the logo and post it in your blog, below is from One Day Blog Silence:

Silence can say more than a thousand words.

This day shall unite us all about this unbelievable painful & shocking event and show some respect and love to those who lost their loved ones.

On April 30th 2007, the Blogosphere will hold a One-Day Blog Silence in honor of the victims at Virginia Tech. More then 30 died at the US college massacre.

But it´s not only about them. Many bloggers have responded and asked about all the other victims of our world. All the people who die every day. What about them?

This day can be a symbol of support to all the victims of our world!

All you have to do is spread the word about it and post the graphic on your blog on 30th April 2007. No words and no comments. Just respect, reflect and empathy.

Spread the word about this event:

Amazingly a simple campaign such as this just One Day of Silence get's into so much analysis causing paralysis leading to inaction if we just give up and listen to detractors and non-conformist of all shades and color, I hear ya Dan:

If you want to discuss these tragic events now is the time to do it, before it fades from peoples memories. Unfortunately I fear we have already fallen into this trap.

The Right To Defend Oneself

Posted by Prudence and Madness on Wednesday, April 18th, 2007 @ 10:05 am in Personal - Philippines.

One cannot be told of the immense power of guns and its influence in our living. But get a gun, hold it with both hands and shoot a target (an inanimate one, hopefully) and you’ll feel it: the power of a malicious mind and its thought unleashed by a cold, metallic, unfeeling machine to harm the object of its malice. It is a terrible power and not a few want it and believe that they deserve to own such power.

Many believe that guns are making hell out of the world we’re living in. Many also believe that government ought to put more stringent policies regarding gun ownership and storage. Some even believed that the whole citizenry should be stripped of all gun ownership rights. However, I think these people are looking at this issue on a narrow perspective. Did they really honestly think that by putting restrictions on citizens’ rights to acquire weapons for their own defense they could prevent a horrible incident as Virginia Tech University Shooting from happening? If perhaps that student who killed as much as 33 people in the campus wasn’t able to acquire a gun, evil will not fall on those people he wished to harm? He would have found other ways, perhaps a bomb, to pursue his evil intent.

If only perhaps all the weaponry in the world could be eradicated (anything that could be used as a weapon to harm people, so that could includes your butter knives, pencil points, ballpens, scissors, and other sharp-ended, seemingly mundane things), then maybe, just maybe, Va. Tech Shooting will not happen again. But guns were only instruments; it is the malicious thought of harming people that kills people.

People are not naturally evil. However, there are times when some just choose to do evil than good. And when these people have made this choice, nothing can hinder them from carrying out what they intend to do. As long as these people have the mind and the will to do evil, then evil will happen. You see, the university is not tolerant of concealed weapons. And yet the shootings happened. I don’t think we can totally eradicate guns in our society. Everyday of our lives there will always be a gun in someone’s hand and it’ll be his choice if he’s going to put it to evil use. And what if that someone chooses to do evil? Isn’t it that making ourselves more capable of defense by owning guns a better alternative than being stripped of our gun ownership rights and being rendered vulnerable to such evil?

If I were in a situation like the Va. Tech Shootings, I would have wished that I have a gun in hand. At least, if I were to die, I would have had a chance to defend myself and not go down like a helpless rabbit hunted down by its hunter.

No, I’m not promoting violence. All I wanted is to keep my right to be able to defend myself when needed.

I do not like guns. Yes, maybe there was a time that I was fascinated by guns. But I do not like them. It scares me and it reminds me of how much evil humans are capable of. But I will use it, if my life is in danger.

Let me quote something from Paulo Coelho’s novel, The Devil and Miss Prym:

A lot of people are critical of arms manufacturers, but they will continue to exist until there’s not a single weapon left on the face of the earth. Because as long as one weapon remains, there will always have to be another, to preserve the fragile balance.

If perhaps ALL guns and weapons would be obliterated, I’d give up my right to own something that I could use to protect myself. But until there is still one gun that could possible be used to endanger my life and those that I love, I will not give up my right to own a gun. If criminals believe they deserve such power, then I need to believe that I do deserve that kind of power myself, so as not to helplessly succumb to their evil intent. I believe it is not right to use force to bend any person to one’s will, but if force is indeed used for such evilness, then force would be needed to defend what is good and right.

Of Songs and Re-imaging…

Posted by A Day In The Life... on Wednesday, April 18th, 2007 @ 9:32 am in Miscellaneous.

I was doing the final mix of a new radio commercial jingle/composition this afternoon when I got a call on my cell from Viva Records head honcho, Vincent del Rosario.

Sarah G. (Becoming Album)He informed me that they were preparing Sarah Geronimo’s next album in which the feel of the new album and her image will be totally different than what it used to be on her previous records.

Vincent asked if I wanted to give Sarah one or more compositions that would fit her and the album’s new approach. Luckily, I still have some really good songs here that I haven’t decided to release yet. So, yeah… I guess I’ll be giving some of these songs to her.

I am hopeful, that these compositions will be just as successful as the one I gave Rachelle Ann Go entitled, “Bakit”.

We’ll just have to wait and see, I guess. Right now I’m busy preparing the demo files of the songs which I told Vincent I’d be bringing to Viva for Sarah. He sounded pretty excited and in a hurry to listen to them…

Will update you guys about developments probably by tomorrow evening after my meeting with the Viva bosses.

Manny Pacquiao vs. Cho Seung-Hui

Do not get me wrong. I am proud of Manny Pacquiao and his many accomplishments. Although boxing as a sport does not interest me, I am glad that Manny has brought recognition to our country. The Pacquiao vs. Solis match was held April 15, 2007 and was shown on television at 10am. About 80% of [...]

I know. It has been a fairly long time since my last post. I guess I've been busy with my new hobby. To those who frequent my blog, apologies for that. Anyway, on with the show. After several bad attempts at looking for some decent cells to work with, I finally got my hands on some decent rechargeables. Both of them are from SANYO and one of them is a very rare type the last time I checked.

The problem is competency, not political dynasty

This message on the Ang Bagong Pinoy yahoo group led me to this website. The author is calling for a tsunami of outrage through click and text. While I believe that his intentions are pure, I just can’t imagine how his means will bring him to his objective of dismantling political dynasties . Again, this is [...]

But as for the rest, I am genuinely worried. Especially with S*****O. Batchmates, you guys already know what that means right? Hehehe... Sheesh... I really should calm down a bit.
