The Lazy Bones Part Two

Posted by Life in Full Vox on Saturday, May 5th, 2007 @ 10:38 pm in Personal - Philippines.

K and I have been spending Sundays lounging around at home in our pj's. Since we started going to Saturday services at church, we've been able to sleep in and truly rest and relax every week. There's nothing like waking up luxuriously sloooow and late in the day to do absolutely... nothing. Or something completely... spontaneous.

A couple of weeks ago, we ventured out into Manila's summer heat and headed for Glorietta. Something we have a lot of in the Philippines - malls. Our agenda: grab lunch, watch Pan's Labyrinth and buy new ballet shoes (the real ones for K's dancing and not the kind worn on the street).

Pan's Labyrinth was not what we expected. Never again will I break my rule to read reviews and synopses before heading to a film I know nothing about! Three days later we were still shaking it off. Well-written but profoundly sad.

Our initial attempt to free ourselves from the film was to walk a good three kilometers to a dance shop down the road from Glorietta for a brand K "just had to have". It was ridiculously hot and we felt as if we were on a treadmill at the gym, only to get to said shop and find out it's closed on Sundays. Thanks. Another shop yielded K a similar pair and we went on our merry way back to Glorietta in a jeepney this time, only to find the shuttle home at Landmark (yet another mall!) is not available on Sundays either. Thanks again.

Aah. The price we pay for randomness.  At least we both got to do 15,102 steps that day. Me needing them more than her, she was aghast, "What?! You made me walk all those steps?! Mo-o-o-m!"

It's another Sunday today and we have no intention at all to... move. Typing at the keyboard only counts for finger-moving; K is lying down sewing ribbons on yet another new pair of pointes.

Steps I'll log in for today? Most probably zeroh.

Spider-Man 3: No other superhero movie comes close

Image courtesy of ClickTheCity For me, nothing compares to the Spider-man movies. I just love it from the very start. See, what I like about the film is that unlike any other, it just keeps getting better and better! And if you want to have an idea of how successful Spider-man is, take a look at the cinemas of SM and other malls. You would see that all their cinemas are showing Spiderman, that

"I thought I was far more beautiful than the rest, beause I have that special place. But why do I have to suffer standing beside the monoblocs? They are not within my level..."
Behind the beautifully handcarved chair, as we can see, is the pulpit. It is now rare for a church to have this kind of pulpit, and the fact that it is still beautifully preserved, deserves some credit.

You are The Moon

Hope, expectation, Bright promises.
The Moon is a card of magic and mystery - when prominent you know that nothing is as it seems, particularly when it concerns relationships. All logic is thrown out the window.
The Moon is all about visions and illusions, madness, genius and poetry. This is a card that has to do with sleep, and so with both dreams and nightmares. It is a scary card in that it warns that there might be hidden enemies, tricks and falsehoods. But it should also be remembered that this is a card of great creativity, of powerful magic, primal feelings and intuition. You may be going through a time of emotional and mental trial; if you have any past mental problems, you must be vigilant in taking your medication but avoid drugs or alcohol, as abuse of either will cause them irreparable damage. This time however, can also result in great creativity, psychic powers, visions and insight. You can and should trust your intuition.

What Tarot Card are You?

I finished watching PoT the other day. ^_^ I should have finished watching the series back then. The episodes after the US-Japan tournament has awaken the yaoi-fangirl in me. I haven’t been reading much yaoi lately, you see. Oh, except Junjou Karen. ^^ There are obvious hints of InuixKaidoh, TezuFuji, and (my favorite) TezuRyo in the last 10-ish episodes of the series. :O It’s also good that I finished it when the OAV is already showing. ^_^ I wasn’t too thrilled when Ryoma was to play in the US Open. I know that it’s a great opportunity for a serious tennis player, but nothing beats being with your teammates. When Ryoma got back from the US Open and just in time for the Nationals, it made me happy. I’m loving the OAV. ♥ ♥ Episode 7 is freaking HILARIOUS! *roflmao*

Last Thursday, Mac and I went to NBC Engineering Office is Makati Cinema Square. Engr. Balmori (his wife is a pamangkin of my mom) recommended that office for our OJT. I went there, hurrying, only to get rejected. They preferred that we go there everyday. If we do that, we’ll be done in a week and the OJT requirement for our class will be totally pointless. X_X Our OJT requirements are very different among other schools. Our OJT isn’t even a separate course. It’s only a class requirement. I explained to the lady how our OJT goes, but she didn’t understand (nor even tried to). So I made it somewhat obvious that I don’t care about their office anymore. They should be grateful that we wouldn’t be bothering them everyday. Also, our school doesn’t allow us to go to offices that give allowances. P We only need their time. I’m bugging my dad to look for construction sites through his contacts. I plan to go to where me, Wally, and Balao can relate to. We’re EnSE students after all. We have’s a groupmate who’s CE student though. I kind of dislike him because he seems arrogant. I guess it’s only the way he looks. It’s too early to tell anyway. P He asked for my number after we talked with Engr. Balmori. He said he knows of a site we can go to.

High-neck Crop Jacket50s Pinup Rockabilly Polkadot Crop Top
I want these two tops!
(If one of the two pictures isn’t showing up, it’s Imageshack’s fault.)

The High-neck Crop Jacket (the first thumbnail) may seem a bit weird, but I like how it is different among the usual crop jackets. Hehe~ Then, the 50s-style top… Who wouldn’t like that!? It’s sexy. I ain’t sexy. Not only am I wishing for that top, I also wish I’m sexy to wear that! X_X

Classes were shitty yesterday. I was very late for Construction Project Management class. When I got there, my classmates told me that Engr. Balmori will arrive by 2:15PM. *gah* Fortunate of me for not being late. But trying to take that 15-minute walk in 5 minutes, walking under the extreme heat, and carrying a heavy bag almost killed me. ~_~ Then in Irrigation class, our report was doomed when we couldn’t open our Powerpoint presentation. Mark used an OpenOffice program, but I didn’t have that in the laptop. We just showed our MSWord document in fullscreen. ^^ Also I never got to do our assignment. Mark didn’t get to do it either. We were worried over our report. I got pissed off that damn assignment. The teacher said she would check it if we answered it in our notebooks. A sheet of bond paper isn’t a notebook, my oh-so-smart classmates! &gt_&lt I was surprised they passed it. Marco, who I even had to bring my very thick and heavy Engineering Wastewater book for some time ago, didn’t even ask me about it. I know we got to worry for our own, but I want to believe that my kindness will not go unrewarded. Be it the same or not. I fear I’m going to fail that subject due to poor class participation even though I worked on that damn report. I doubt our techer knows that’s my share of work.

The sucky thing about Globe DSL is that you have turn it off then on everyday. Unlike pldtDSL, the modem’s off only when electricity is temporarily out.

Know San Diego?

Posted by Prudence and Madness on Saturday, May 5th, 2007 @ 1:54 pm in Personal - Philippines.

sandiego.jpgNo, I’m not talking about the thieving villainess of the computer detective game Carmen San Diego. I’m talking about San Diego in California. Perhaps you know of a wonderful restaurant there which serves great-tasting steak? Or maybe you know where a vibrant nightlife could be found there? Or maybe you’re going to visit the place sometime soon? You want to know where the fine, cheap hotels are to be found? Are you going to take USMLE and are looking for a place to stay? Do you want to know where to shop or where to have your hair and nails done?

These many questions, which, of course, can have many, unlimited answers. And all that information can overwhelm you. So, why not stick to one website where all that information can be found? Go visit DiscoverSD.com!

The massive information are made available by blogs, commentaries, reviews, and recommendations posted by community members. You can access the site as a guest or you can register.

Got Ink?

Posted by Prudence and Madness on Saturday, May 5th, 2007 @ 1:38 pm in Personal - Philippines.

behindear.jpgI remember fantasizing about getting tattoos done. Maybe on the shoulder or on the ankle. Really feminine type of tattoo design like a little butterfly or an ankh. But seeing a tattoo procedure done on somebody else, already vaporized that fantasy forever. Eew and ugh. No, I don’t want to have ink drilled on the small pores of my skin. Not anymore. The art looks wonderful, but thinking of what I’ll do with it after I got bored looking at it. Also, time might come when I’ll have to donate blood but can’t because I’ve got a history of tattooing. So, no more tattoos for me.

But for those out there who are fancying to have some ink under their skin to express their creativity and individuality (not to mention their “undying” love for a beau), here’s a site that can provide you with tattoo ideas.

Stolen Images and Video of “IRON MAN” in Action!

Posted by A Day In The Life... on Saturday, May 5th, 2007 @ 7:55 am in Miscellaneous.

News Flash! New “IRON MAN” images and a video clip has just surfaced which show Iron Man in action during the filming of the movie. IESB.net has recently released them and I am posting them below for everyone to enjoy!

IESB reports:

Remember how we were told that the final battle was going to be totally CGI? Not true, I did a lot of sneaking around the set last night and was able to capture Iron Man on video.

I have to tell you, the security was super tight, way more than the other night. I was surprised we didn’t get caught just walking around the area. First of all the production is huge. It seems to grow each day. We were able to get pretty close to the set this time, at one point we were only about 20 feet away from the action and were able to see some really great stuff.

The scene we saw was of Iron Man on his back in the actual f*cking suit! Obviously, we had to be careful since I had a video camera on me. We saw them rehearse over and over again. I shot as much as I could but we had to keep hiding from the people on set. I am assuming this scene is right after the one we saw the first time, after Iron Man and Iron Monger get blown through the wall on the side of the freeway.

I can only piece together what we saw but here’s what I assume happens, I can’t be sure but there were some huge holes blown in the side of a semi-truck. So I think they blow through the wall, through the semi truck and out the other side. Iron Man lands on the freeway. I got some shots of the semi-truck with the huge hole in it. It looks like he gets hit by something on the freeway, (a passing car?) and is on the ground. He sits up and shakes his head, like to shake it off. He turns to get on all fours then slowly tries to get up.

There were guys around him tuning up the suit often, like they had to oil him up or something, reminded me of having to oil up the tin man except, this suit probably cost half a million dollars! No tin foil here. I was surprised at how agile the Mark 3 suit was. At one point I swear the guy was tap dancing on set. We couldn’t shoot that though it would have blown our cover. The chest plate was lit up and so were the eyes. At one point it looked like he was staring right at us! I think it was a stunt guy and not Downey but we couldn’t bet our lives on it.

I caught some of this on the video, but like I said I had to keep hiding, I swear the one guy saw me, you can see it at the end of the video.

Now here comes the coolest part, but we didn’t get it on tape. Only saw this as we walked through the area but we couldn’t pull out a camera else we would have been caught right then and there. Ready? We saw Iron Monger!!!! Well, at least I assume it’s Iron Monger. But it wasn’t an actual suit, there was a guy wearing huge boots and holding what looked like a huge cut-out that must be for CGI reference. The stand in was holding this tall wooden stick with a large cut out of something on top of it. I didn’t put it together until later on, but this was the stand in for the other iron suit, which I assume to be Iron Monger, that Iron Man is fighting. The cutout was unmistakably the top of another Iron Suit. Since the stand in was only wearing large robotic looking boots, I would assume Monger will have to be purely CGI generated.

I didn’t get any shots of the Iron Monger stand in/cut out next to Iron Man, but if the Iron Man suit is say 6 feet tall, then Iron Monger is at least 8 feet tall!

Without further ado…

Childhood and On Aging

Posted by Prudence and Madness on Saturday, May 5th, 2007 @ 12:22 am in Personal - Philippines.

baby-tess-2.jpg

I think I was about 1 year old at the time this photo was taken. For those who know me, now you need not to wonder why I’m so gaga over pink. Hehe.

Another trivia: My uncles and aunts used to give me boys’ toys (action figures, toy guns and dartboards) for reasons that I still don’t know. Maybe they thought I’ve got a little brother? Hehe.

On a different note:

This photo hunt exercise for this week reminded me of how much I have grown and changed. Of course, I look very much different from the baby Tess. And it made me realize that there will be more changes as the years pass by. Of these changes, the most visible would be physical. After a couple of decades, I will start losing my posture and my strength, my soft, smooth skin will give way to wrinkles and even liverspots. I’ve always been proud of my skin because it’s one of those things that people always notice about me. Would I be able to handle the thought of losing such source of vanity?

The next question, I think, as expected, would be: will I go under the knife just to be able to preserve the image of what I hink Tess should be? Would I spend my savings on keeping myself intact, trying to stop time from ravaging me?

For some, it’s a question with a ready answer. Yes, they would do everything in their power to preserve their beauty. A Cary plastic surgery, for them, would not be a problem and they would troop there just to be able to say to themselves, “time has no power over me”.

For me, though, I think it would be better if I just try to age gracefully. I’m not sure just now if I’d really be saying no to a liposuction or skin treatments to remove my liverspots. But I daresay that I wouldn’t really be drastically changing much about the way I look. Perhaps, only a little improvement here and there but not to spend thousands over a straighter nose or a double eyelid. I’m vain, but not that vain just yet.

Actually, I think, when I get to that age that some people start wondering when to have plastic surgery, I’d be too busy blogging to even think about it. After all, I would have retired, by then, and got lots of time in my hands to dedicate to one of my passions in life, blogging. So, maybe I’d just shift my focus from my physical vanity to my cyber-vanity. Hehe.

And with me blogging, all the time then, I’d be making my own templates…in pink, of course. -)
