(Belated) Happy Mothers? Day!

Posted by HyukTa.net on Sunday, May 13th, 2007 @ 9:54 pm in Personal - Philippines.

Is it Happy Mothers’ Day or Happy Mothers Day? ^_^;

I went out yesterday with Mac to buy a cake for my mom. My brother gave some share too, so the cake’s from both of us. Oh drat, I forgot to take a picture of the cake. ~_~ Anyways, before Mac and I searched for a cake, I had him accompany me to shop for bras. XD Puhaha~ He’s the only guy there and his face is like :S

XDDD

I thought he was annoyed, but he told me he’s only afraid he might be mistaken to be gay. ^^ After buying 2 bras, we bought the cake, bought blank CDRs, and hanged out a bit in Greenbelt 3. Been a while since we hanged out there.

Today’s the election day in the Philippines and I just voted about 3 hours ago. I woke up 7AM for this damn election. I only had 3 hours of sleep, so I easily get ticked off. I got annoyed by the man who checked my name in the listings. He wondered if _that_ is really my name. Ugh~ How annoying. My mom said the guy was asking if that’s my name alright, but I didn’t hear him at all so I was only staring at him and waiting for what’s next to do. She thought I was doing the silent treatment on purpose. *lol* There was also this lady who had her hand on my back as we went inside the public school (public schools are usually the places to vote in the Philippines; I have no idea about other countries). That lady almost made me want to KILL. Who’s she to even put her hand on my back? My mom saw it and she asked me loudly, “Do you know her?” I said no then I saw the lady look at me and then removed her hand.

*bah* I need to burn files. I only have less than 1gb left in all my hard disks.

Ripple of Hope

Posted by jun.anteola on Sunday, May 13th, 2007 @ 4:29 pm in Personal - Philippines.

  • Half the world, nearly three billion people, live on less than two dollars a day
  • Over a billion people are illiterate – unable to read or sign their name
  • Some 1.1 Billion people have inadequate access to water
  • 2.6 billion people lack access to basic sanitation

I was aware that the internet is a medium with a large user base, but it was only when I started to blog and go blog hopping that I got to appreciate this. Through the very few months I have been at it, I came to experience firsthand and realise the potential of the internet to reach an immense number of people, and to sell anything - be it a product, an idea, a skill, even affection. Until then, I couldn’t quite comprehend why businesses see it as an important medium to advertise in.

It is from seeing this tool’s power over both consumer and provider that the people at ripple found inspiration to get income to support its causes: access to clean water, food, education and microcredit for the less fortunate. With a click or a search on the ripple homepage, users help in generating funds for these ends, advertisers effectively reach consumers as well as contribute, and more money means more work done for the advancement of these charities. It’s a win-win scenario. It makes one feel good because he is able to do something worthwhile, and there’s no catch.

Filipina Dancing On Stage

Posted by Nakanampucha! on Sunday, May 13th, 2007 @ 11:11 am in Humor.

One pinay dancing on stage during a German-Filipino Community party abroad…

Oh boy… wait till the music really takes off… that’s when hilarity ensues!

Her routine “splits” seem VERY PAINFUL!  Not to mention hilariously distasteful!  Bleh!  I pity the floor on which she lands on… if only it were alive, it would’ve puked already!

Quick!  Take her away before the place starts to stink…!

Ped NOT X-ing

Posted by Life in Full Vox on Sunday, May 13th, 2007 @ 1:29 am in Personal - Philippines.

(This post is brought to you in part by my Twitter Page. *sigh*)

realizing my beloved pedometer fell during my morning commute, i slip into sadness and mourn its loss.. and $ 45 price tag. *sobs* 09:43 AM May 08, 2007 from web

instinctively, my hand reaches for my waist to secure my pedometer only to realize it is truly gone. i sigh and begin my walk home. 07:01 PM May 08, 2007 from web

the walking begins and i am going through pedometer withdrawal. i bite my lip, close my eyes and say, 'today is a new day. i. will. walk. ' 07:41 AM May 09, 2007 from web

It's been five days since my pedometer's disappearance. I'm proud of myself that I didn't kick and scream and Twit like a mad woman at my stupidity for letting it drop. I guess I am more forgiving than I realize. It was, after all, just one of those things - an accident, an unfortunate event, an act of fate, the hand of God. Whatever. My pedometer is gone.

I confess that I am still smarting from its absence. We were makin good time together! More than 170,000 steps logged down so far and stored away at 10000steps.org.au to ensure my completion of one million steps by July 19, 2007.

Not happening.

Yet.

In the meantime, I walk, walk, walk. Still. And though I may have no way of knowing if I'm reaching my daily goal of 10,000 steps, I know that at least 100 steps a day is better than none.
