Lakbayan: How much of the Philippines have you visited?

Posted by Culture Shiok! Singapore OFW on Saturday, July 7th, 2007 @ 7:58 pm in Personal - International.

Lakbayan is a website that enables you to track all the places in the Philippines that you have visited.

The creator, Eugene Alvin Villar, got the idea for Lakbayan from the Visited Countries. He said it's not just a localized rip-off as he added some additional features. Instead of a simple “yes/no” answer to the question of whether you have visited a particular province or tourist spot or not, there are five possible answers ranging from never-visited, and just-passing-through, up to I-have-lived-here. what makes it great is that you'll get a Traveler’s Grade from the homebody ‘F’ up to the frequent traveler ‘A+’.

So... have you been to Boracay, Cebu, Siargao or Davao?

I've never been to those places. Although I'm a Filipino, I was not able to visit world-famous places which were easily acccesible to me (my Traveler's Grade is D, see my map above). Now that I'm working here in Singapore, I'm always dreaming of going back to explore more of my country, the Philippines!

Visit Lakbayan now and make your mark!

Are we just friends?

Once in your lifetime, you have probably come to point when you asked yourself this dreaded question:

“Are we just friends?”

See, one of the most excruciating things that happens to boys and girls alike is the self-realization that you are liking someone more than a friend. You start out as friends, chat a lot, share the same experiences then start to realize that there’s too much in common

Taste Asia! I was there too!

So much for being discreet huh... Marlon and I arrived at Taste Asia (MOA) for the Bloggers Food Fest in a timely manner...NOT...we were 30mins late and almost didn't get in. We told the registration that we did leave comments on them blog sites so we could get listed but our names were nowhere to be found. If the girls in the registration area didn't feel sorry for us we would have wasted one night of free booze and food. ahehe Anyways, they allowed us inside, you should have seen our faces light up like a kid enumerating his xmas list while on santa's lap, ok maybe not that exaggerated but you know what i mean, hey it is free booze so yeah. We were looking around for familiar faces, it was hard to tell since they kinda look different in person or maybe nobody was really familiar? Ok i saw Ms. Janette and im like woot! I would've come up to her and said hello if Marlon wasn't dragging me around all excited for the beer, food, Cliquebooth and waiters distributing fruitshakes and oh the photographers too, he must have hailed 3 of them to take our picture. Yeah he couldn't quite point his finger at what he wanted to do first. I just hope the pics are not all over the internets--I'm s'pose to be sick...ok i won't elaborate.

The manager and the nerd in the cave

Posted by sweetperceptions on Saturday, July 7th, 2007 @ 6:05 am in Personal - Philippines.

I have had a few minutes of break come stressful Friday, and I got the chance to breeze through my tech feeds.  I came across an entry about a book.  Well, actually its not just a book (that is why I got attracted to it).

For almost two years now, I have been working as a Manager in the IT department of two different companies.  Though I still consider myself as a good developer since I love programming, I had to step up to shape myself to be a good (if not the best) manager a developer or an IT person could have in the office.  I am a radical person. I always want to try a very weird, untried, and unpractised approach to things that requires much focus and seriousness.   At home, I balance the social bonding of my siblings, me and our mom.  I also learned much from my teaching career.  I still keep the friendship I had with my former students, and from time to time, I still see them at malls, and we still greet each other in delight.  I have been managing small groups of techie people since I was in my last year of college and it hasn't been much burden for me.  I have always found it challenging and amusing at the same time to be managing people and managing my development skills.

Though I have had experiences in working with people, I also do not fail to hone my programming skills with the latest technologies.  I work as a freelance developer for projects that are offered to me aside from my fulltime work (that I most of the time bring at home to finish or improve).   I still love to hack codes and experiment on the implementation of "right ways" on how to do stuffs.

But then why does this book appeal to me? ..if I deem myself successful in managing both bits and people?

In truth, I am having a difficulty of separating "the nerd in the cave" with the "socially and intellectually skilled IT manager".  Sounds like an easy task, but its not.

Shounen Onmyouji ep. 16!

Posted by HyukTa.net on Saturday, July 7th, 2007 @ 12:17 am in Personal - Philippines.

Finally! Episode 16 is out. D Haha~ I’m so happy. I thought there wouldn’t be fansub releases of this series anymore. P

I finished Tiger and Dragon TV and Special in less than a day. *lol* This is the first time I’ve seen Nagase Tomoya and Okada Junichi act. They’re both quite good looking, so… XD I’m going to look for more dramas with them in it. XD They were both awesome in the drama. The sole reason why I watched this drama is because of Takashi Tsukamoto. Other than Battle Royale and Rockers, the longest time I’ve watched him is Kekkon Dekinai Otoko. His acting is still the same. I mean, his acting wasn’t lousy nor was there any improvement. (OT: He’s FREAKING married!? O_O NO!!!)

I can’t believe I delayed watching this series for so long. Tsk, tsk. I love the ending. It was so touching. I thought Toraji wouldn’t be able to do rakugo again. The special one-hour episode answered a lot of those random scenes in the TV series. Err, wait, or should have I seen that first before the series? O_o Anyway, this series is funny and cute. I recommend it to everyone! :D
