Being rich, DN, DN2

Posted by HyukTa.net on Thursday, July 12th, 2007 @ 4:02 pm in Personal - Philippines.

I wonder how it feels like to be a billionaire. O_o I know happiness can’t be found in money, but at least there’s less to worry about except of course not losing your riches. *lol* George Lindemann is one of world’s 476 billionaires. For billionaires, a population of 476 is kind of big, don’t you think? I thought they would be like 200 or less. ^^;

You Are An Independent Girlfriend!

Whoa, Ms. Independent! Your guy digs your modern style…
But he’s sometimes left to wonder if you really like him.
Keep that unique spirit, but show him your love a bit more often.
No worries - you’re light years away from smothering him!

You Are 28% Weirdo

You’re a little weird, but you’d be even weirder if you didn’t have a few quirks.
You are just strange enough to know it, but nobody else seems to notice your weirdness.
That’s because, deep down, everyone is a little freaky!

We’re done watching Death Note: The Last Name an hour ago. Gawd, I’m so behind! Haha~ Anyway, I enjoyed the movies a lot. The second movie’s long, but it wasn’t draggy and there weren’t any unnecessary scenes like some known movies. I hope you’re getting me. ^_~ When I saw Toda Erika (as Amane Misa), I thought, “I’ve seen this girl before.” I checked DramaWiki and, yes, I’ve really seen her before… in HYD2. Goodness, I hated her in HYD2. But she was so cute and awesome in DN! ~_~ WTF. I’ve totally forgotten her rotten character in HYD2. Haha~ I ♥ her now. (Who’s got LIAR GAME!?!?) ^_^ She needs a little, little, little fat though. XD

DN and DN: The Last Name are great movies. For those who haven’t seen them, go watch it! But I guess everyone’s seen them already. P

It’s not the Exorcist or the Ring, but it can scare the hell out of you as well

Yes, this has been a stale blog. But now that I am done analyzing the news media coverage of the elections (except for the coverage analysis of the elections day itself which is definitely way lighter than the analysis of the three-month campaign), I think I can breathe for now. Thus, this new post (finally).

But oh, in case I falter in updating this blog (again), I invite you to visit our Freedom Watch blog, which we hope is going to be updated on a fairly regular basis sometime soon. We in the office are really excited on the plans we have for the official blog of the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility (CMFR). Can't tell you the full details yet, but some things are for sure: the writers will be given a chance to post in the blog, and that the blog is going to be interesting, relevant, and exciting. So please, please, make it a regular habit to visit Freedom Watch.

I have been wanting to post this video ever since I read about it in Robert Kuttner's piece in the March-April 2007 issue of the Columbia Journalism Review. Mentioning the film EPIC 2014 (which now has an updated version entitled EPIC 2015) in his piece, Kuttner talks about the dire future of the newspapers. "By the usual indicators, daily newspapers are in a deepening downward spiral," Kuttner writes in "The Race." "The new year brought reports of more newsroom layoffs, dwindling print circulation, flat or declining ad sales, increasing defections of readers and advertisers to the Internet, and sullen investors."

"The dire future predicted by the now-classic video, EPIC 2014, in which Google, Amazon, and an army of amateurs eventually drive out even The New York Times, begins to feel like a real risk," Kuttner writes.

Here's EPIC 2015 below. Watching this movie gives you little shivers, don't you think? It's as if you're watching a short horror film intended for journalists. Creepy.

For more about film, click here and here. The film's creators explain the origins of the movie here. Wikipedia entry here.

With more and more reports about newsroom layoffs, decreasing advertising and circulation sales, and the rise of Internet and bloggers as a primary source of news and information, should the press -- and the public which it serves -- indeed fear this dark prediction of the future of newspapers? Will the end of the newspapers also signal drastic changes in the role press plays in our society, and the journalistic principles -- accuracy, objectivity, fairness, balance, context, among others -- it dearly hold?

Kuttner ends his piece with a more encouraging note. It's a contest that newspapers might win, he pointed out. How? One way is for newspapers to to make the transition to the "promised land" (Kuttner's words) of hybrid print-Web publishing. "Newspapers have started down a financially and journalistically viable path of becoming hybrids," he writes, "without losing the professional culture that makes them uniquely valuable," adding that "whether newspapers are print or Web matters far less than whether they maintain their historic calling."

Read Kuttner's piece here. I have read a number of news articles and in-depth pieces about this issue, but I think this one takes the cake for its comprehensive and well-researched analysis.

Blog Addict?

81%How Addicted to Blogging Are You?

This is me not having anything to talk about yet, I've been busy at work, ok busy is not the word, I've been swallowed by my work station, there that describes it better. NO kidding, i don't know what happened but all of a sudden it seemed like hell here at the office. That's why I might fall on unexpected blog hiatus, at least you know why. I also tried reading other blogs during free time to no avail - i had no free time!

I answered yes to half of the questions here...and  despite being busy at work I'm still a blog addict!

“Kahit Na” (aka Sarah Album Update 7.1)

Posted by A Day In The Life... on Thursday, July 12th, 2007 @ 12:47 pm in Miscellaneous.

Well… you guys are probably wondering why this is called ”Sarah Album Update 7.1″.  It’s because it actually isn’t much of an update… I just thought of posting the lyrics of my composition entitled, “Kahit Na”, which is one of two compositions I have included in Sarah’s album, “Taking Flight”.

Since it isn’t possible for me to post the final mix of the song here (obviously to prevent piracy), I guess posting the lyrics of the musical work is enough to satiate your curiosity for now.

So, without further ado…

“Kahit Na”

Pinilit kong limutin ka
Ngunit hindi ko magawa
Kahit anong sabihin
Mahal pa rin kita
Kahit na malayo/malaya ka
Lagi akong umaasa
Muli, muli… muling magsasama

Chorus:
Araw gabi… laging hanap-hanap ko
Ang pag-ibig na nadarama
Nadama lamang sa’yo
Maghihitay ako
Hindi magbabago
At kahit na malayo ka
Umaasa pa rin sinta…

Kay hirap ma’y maghihintay
Sa piling mo ay nasanay
Iniwan na damdamin
Muling inaalay
Malayo man sa piling ko
Hinding-hindi maglalaho
Iyong-iyo… Iyo ang puso ko…

(Chorus)

Kahit na…

Chorus 2:
Araw gabi… laging hanap-hanap ko
Ang pag-ibig na nadarama
Nadama lamang sa’yo
Maghihitay ako
Hindi magbabago
At kahit na malayo ka
At may mahal ka nang iba
Nagmamahal pa rin sa’yo, sinta…
Kahit na…

So there you have it!  I hope you like the lyrics and eventually the song (when the album comes out).  More updates soon… so be sure to check back every now and then!

I don?t really feel like posting

I checked the xhtml 1.0 validity of my previous post. The embed/object is making the page invalid. Ugh~ I don’t want to remove the DA embed. ~_~

I am almost done cleaning my room. There’s still a few that I need to organize. I plan on finishing them before I go out tomorrow. I have to go to school to check the grade I got in my EnSE Lab. completion. sing I was about to finish cleaning ’til my brother went to my room and wanted to watch Death Note (Live Action) Movie 1. (When I saw Light eating chips, I was tempted to eat too. ~_~ ) He wants to watch the second movie right now, but I told him we’ll do it after I finish a few things (like this post). *lol* Well, I uploaded a picture for Allie and added Marie’s profile in my MyDogSpace account. If you have an account there, add me please. ^_~

There’s still about an hour and a half before my download of Bambino! episode 6 is done. Once I get episode 7, I’ll be able to burn this already! YAY! DDD Then I got to download the rest after that. *lol*

Xmas 2006

Posted by HyukTa.net on Thursday, July 12th, 2007 @ 5:18 am in Personal - Philippines.

Xmas 2006 CollectionHaha~ This is really extremely late. XD

Last year, we celebrated Xmas in Tita Christine’s condo unit in West Tower. We usually spend it here at home, but for a change, we decided to celebrate there. It would have been more fun if we did it on the rooftop (and while swimming! Hell yeah!), but the adults prefer to be in the unit. *lol*

I took a number of photos, but only uploaded some where I find myself looking good. Hahaha~ J/k! I already upload a picture in DA, I think.

*searches*

Here it is:

Shabby and Jeremy - Xmas 2006 by ~hyukta on deviantART

Fufu~ There were lots of great food, Gregory kept crying because he felt shy wearing a Santa suit too and he’s jealous of his brother, there were awesome gifts too. I got diamond earrings from Tita Christine and Tito Ralf. WHOA! Haha~ D So awesome. I had some beer and wine too, if I remember right. ^_^ I think I was thinner that time than now. Egads!

My favorite photos:

I also uploaded a video of Jeremy with my Mom and Dad. There’s another video, but I have to edit it first. ^_^
