Random blurbs

Oh boy, it's the last month before the "-ber" months start to kick in. I can hardly believe winter is already over in another four weeks, which, by the way, is getting to be more obvious because of the less cooler temps these past few days. In no time, I can say goodbye to my fleece and wool outfits (and hopefully to Erin's eczema as well!) and welcome good old cotton back into the wardrobe. It's no secret the cold has not been a good friend to the family so I am just giddy at the thought of Spring in the not so distant future. :)

-o-

With Erin getting bigger by the day, she is quickly turning into a Daddy's girl with all her cute antics. J is so smitten with the little girl (not that he wasn't before. it's more pronounced now!) that he vehemently expressed that he cannot go on without her for three months. You see, we have been slowly planning our loooong holiday next year after Erin turns one. The original plan was to go home to the Philippines in April 2008, with J staying for two months while Erin and I stay back until the end of August. Now, we have both decided (yes, after a bit of compromising because I really would have wanted a longer break) to just start our holiday by the end of May (in time for Erin's cousin Pablo's 1st birthday), with J going back in July and Erin and me by the end of August. As of this writing, all is still in the planning stage (i.e., no booked flights yet so no specific dates to speak of) but one thing I know for sure is that we are definitely going home for a much needed vacation. I can hardly wait! :)

Video Conferencing is the way to go!

Posted by Kirbitz on Thursday, August 2nd, 2007 @ 6:30 pm in Miscellaneous.

Im sure alot of us has had our visions of the future. We think about flying cars, Cell phones, computers and perhaps, video conference technology. We like to think that its far off the future that we might not be able to catch in in out precious time on this world. Well, think again.

Video Conference technology is within the tip of our fingers!

I just found this very useful website about it and its called megameeting.com They offer cheap, affordable, convenient and easy to use software that allows us to comunicate with anyone, anywhere in the world. Now, thats what i call High.tech! Whether is be for conference meetings, web seminars or even just communicating with good old friends, video conference is a great way to deal with this.

Now, do you still need those snail mails? ;)

This post is brought to you by our friends at www.megameeting.com

Posted by A Day In The Life... on Thursday, August 2nd, 2007 @ 1:53 pm in Miscellaneous.

Hello again friends… here’s sort of a treat for all the batty fans who just can’t wait for “The Dark Knight’s” release on 2008.  This is a clip taken by a spectator during the filming of “The Dark Knight”… you can see Batman riding his Batpod going back and forth along the alley of Chicago… errr… Gotham City, I mean.

Enjoy!

Kirbitz Broke the 500k Technorati mark!

Posted by Kirbitz on Thursday, August 2nd, 2007 @ 9:59 am in Miscellaneous.

So, ive been trying to the best of my knowledge and abilities to increase my traffic, pagerank and blogging network. I previously wrote about my Part 1 of improving traffic into a blog, and made updates in increasing it. And who could ever forget my down-time? If your a Frequent reader of kirbitz, you know what i mean.

But i kept my head up, moved on, and hey, Broke the 500k mark on Technorati!

When i checked over my Technorati profile just a while ago, i was delighted to see that my ranking is 465,230 of all the blogs on technorati. Not bad for a 2 week old blog. Dont you think so? I dont mean to sound imposing but hey, its one of those times that you just have to pat your back and say "Great job, Kirby!". And honestly, im not stopping here. My short term goal is to increase about a couple of thousand ranks per week and a target of 100k-350k of ranking ao month. If all goes well, i would be on the peak on the end of my 3rd or 4th month. Quite ambitious i should say. But hey, to dream is free. And achieving it? Its priceless! But i do know this is easier said than done.
What did I do to increase rankings from a couple of millions to 460k? You might ask.

Here are the things I did for the past two weeks:
  • Socialize. I blog-hopped and searched and if i find something of my liking, i never get shy to leave some love and drop some line in the comment box for the author. Just be sincere in every note that you leave. Authors will know if youre just saying "nice blog" jsut for the sake of it. Again, be sincere. ;)
  • Dont be shy with faving. Whenever i saw a useful or comprehensive or unique or a mix of these qualities, i hit the fave button. Later on, when the blogger recognizes this, they might as well add you as their favorites. And that's just a bonus of being a generous in favoriting blogs.
  • Content is the name of the Game. Ive had 2 blogs before kirbitz. The first one, died a natural death because of lack of readership and because i didnt know what to write about. I didnt have any ideas about it. The second blog Agloco-Pilipinas is still alive but I have inadequate sources about it, and the topic is so limited to quite a few.
  • Make each reader a VIP. I constantly make it to a point that each reader is satisfied with each visit to Kirbitz. I added the FreeBie of the Week feature just this week. Up for grabs is Harry Potter Book 7 e-book.

I hope this gave you some pointers about making yourself visible in technorati world. Just remember, your Attitude counts the heaviest. ;)

Best of Luck!

MRT: The Things You Ought to Know

Posted by Hilagang Bakal on Thursday, August 2nd, 2007 @ 8:32 am in Personal - Philippines, Miscellaneous.

Segway muna: Ang makamandag na block pic namin. May kamukha si Budoy diyan. Yung nakahubad.

e9ed.jpg

  • Taft Avenue
  • Magallanes
  • Ayala
  • Buendia
  • Guadalupe
  • Boni Avenue
  • Shaw Boulevard
  • Ortigas
  • Santolan Annapolis
  • Araneta Cubao
  • GMA Kamuning
  • Quezon Avenue
  • North Avenue

Bukas ang MRT mula 5:30 am hanggang 10:30 am. Walang MRT tuwing Maundy Thursday at Good Friday.

Pamasahe:

From your origin.

First 3 stations -PhP 10

4-5 stations- PhP11

6-8 stations- PhP 12

9-11 stations-PhP 14

12-13 stations-PhP 15

Walang pamasahe na PhP 13 kasi malas daw yung 13.

ANG MGA STATIONS

Taft Avenue- The second busiest station. Maraming estudyante ang bumababa dito. Pati yung mga papuntang Maynila. Nandito sila.

Mga office people.

Promise.

Guadalupe- Maraming bumaba dito pag rush hour. Pinakaboring na station.

Boni- Ano bang alam ko dito? Marami-rami rin ang office people dito.

Shaw Boulevard- Maganda dito kapag gabi. Medyo feel mo na subway ito. Astig na station.

Ortigas- Saleslady station, call center station, office people station. No more, no less.

Santolan- Police station, soldier station.

Cubao- The busiest station. Ever. Marami ring saleslady at office people.
