Kirbitz Connects with Jon Lee

Posted by Kirbitz on Saturday, August 4th, 2007 @ 10:29 pm in Miscellaneous.

In the competitive world of blogging, only the strongest survives. And as a starting blogger like me, its not difficult to be devoured by the egoistic blogging giants, marketing tycoons and all the blah blahs. As a scientist would give his notion "Survival of the Fittest". Its every man for himself.

But how often do we encounter a bigtime blogger who is passionate, dedicated and generous to mere mortals like me? Well, look no further than Jon Lee.

Who is Jon Lee?

He is a web-developer, a blogger, a degree holder of education at queens University, a pokemon fanatic, a basketball fan and a public transit passenger. All of this traits mixed harmoniously into a delightful concoction with blue-berry cheesecake as dessert. Now, hows that for lunch?

Whats the fuss about his site?

Among other sites, jon is maintaining a Web Development Blog about his career in general. He tackles about everything from reviews on products (check out his latest) , internet services, websites and everything in between! Whats so unique about his blog is that, he always has his "Jon Lee trademark" on each and every post that he is making. Its got personality, attitude and most important of all, CHARISMA. No wonder he hes 234 readers and well, i wouldnt bet on it to decline in the coming months.

He also has contests in which Kirbitz joined personally. Check out his latest p2 slim mouse giveaway contest. And for my fellow bloggers : He's giving an opportunity for us to have a backlink from his site. All he asks is a review from our blog.

To sum up this post, I would just like to say that i have my utmost respect and admiration for this man. I dont know him personally, in fact im just a recent visitor to his blog. But one thing i can assure you, He is a Force to be Reckoned With.

Posted by Kirbitz on Saturday, August 4th, 2007 @ 8:00 pm in Miscellaneous.

For quite sometime now, ive been using Gomez Peer. It has been so integrated with my PC that i didnt even notice that Ive been earning slowly but surely. In fact, i didnt even include this in last month's earning. Imagine earning money on the internet while you are asleep--- Sounds too good to be true? Read on. . .

Gomez Peer is a company that does research, statistics and all those stuff related to the internet; its performance, and all the others in between. By running the Gomez PEER, you will also help provide the most realistic picture of Web performance as an individual user.

In order to get accepted, you need to meet the minimum requirements to be a peer. . .
  • Complete the application form upon registering. - Just fill up the needed informations just like registering to any other site. Right now, Gomez is accepting more members from all over the world. And yes, everyone can earn.
  • Download the Gomez Software - You earn by the processing time that your PC does for them and this varies from geographic location, internet connection and online time.
  • Register a PayPal or E-gold Account - Youll get paid via paypal or e-gold. For those who have accounts on paypal already, theres no need to get another one. If you dont have a paypal account, get one here.
  • 14 days evaluation time - As soon as you register, your account will be put on "pending" status and Gomez will review your geographic loaction and internet connection. 14 days is too long!? yes, but it doesnt really mean you have to wait for the entire 2 weeks. As soon as you turn on your account, youll start earning money. As for me, i got accepted after 2 days on pending status and changed it to "Active".
  • And wait, there's more! - If you refer more members to Gomez, youll get $2 everytime your referral gets an Active Status.

Here's how Gomez is so Negligible, youll soon forget youre earning!

Its so small, you wont even think about it.

Talking about making your Pc a money making machine. . ;)

And the best part about it is its all for FREE!

What Hurts The Most - Rascal Flatts

Posted by Hilagang Bakal on Saturday, August 4th, 2007 @ 11:16 am in Personal - Philippines, Miscellaneous.

Malala na nga itong LSS ko. Umabot na sa third degree.

Sumali na rin ako sa listahan ng mga blogger na nag-po-post ng mga lyrics ng kanta. Try ko lang.

What Hurts The Most - Rascal Flatts

I can take the rain on the roof of this empty house
That don’t bother me
I can take a few tears now and then and just let them out
I’m not afraid to cry every once in a while
Even though going on with you gone still upsets me
There are days every now and again I pretend I’m ok
But that’s not what gets me
What hurts the most
Was being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was tryin’ to do

It’s hard to deal with the pain of losing you everywhere I go
But I’m doin’ It
It’s hard to force that smile when I see our old friends and I’m alone
Still Harder
Getting up, getting dressed, livin’ with this regret
But I know if I could do it over
I would trade give away all the words that I saved in my heart
That I left unspoken

What hurts the most
Is being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

What hurts the most
Is being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

Not seeing that loving you
That’s what I was trying to do
Ooohhh….

My brother’s birthday pics

I added new plugins in just say goodbye and this blog. I tried the AJAX Comments plugin. It worked, but my test comment didn’t show up right away until I refreshed the site. *lol* The plugin is pointless for me. XD; Live Comment Preview doesn’t work for me either. Other than new plugins, I converted one of my old MT themes to WP. I haven’t come up with a good layout for this blog, so I decided to do that. The default layout is still “Listening to the Music.” You can change the layout using the theme switcher in the sidebar if you’re already tired with this. I don’t recommend switching to the default and classic themes right now. They still need tweaking. P The other layout took me almost 2 days to work on. Sheesh~ The inverse question mark gave me a headache. XP

Maru’s birthday pictures from last and this year’s are finally up in my Multiply account! D Check the pictures below and see if you notice anything. XD

License problems —>Internet on the DS

Posted by Paranoid Thinker on Saturday, August 4th, 2007 @ 8:05 am in Personal - Philippines.

I wasn't able to renew my driver's license. Apparently, the LTO's system is so conked out that its been crashing for the past two months. Long story short, I didn't eat lunch for nothing, wasn't able to drop in the deposit slip for my account.

Still, something good happened. I was able to use the DS browser at Starbucks. You can see that particular entry here.

Ended up some of the money I was supposed to deposit too. Glad that day ended when it did.

Nintendo DS: another step away from internet deprivation

Posted by on Saturday, August 4th, 2007 @ 12:04 am in Technology.

I recently got the Nintendo DS Browser from Data Blitz and I finally got to test how it works. Based on the package, you really just need to read the manual(s) to get started. But if you happen to be anyone like me, you wouldn’t bother. For reference though, here’s what the package comes with.

Nintendo DS Browser

DS Browser Contents (Manuals, Game Cart and RAM Expansion)

There really were a lot of manuals in the pack, not that a lot of people would actually read it right? Besides that, the RAM included in the package and the Opera browser in the Slot-1 cart, all you need is the DS to use it with. Or in my case, a DS Lite.

There are quite a few ways to access the net using the browser. First is through one of Nintendo’s Access Points which aren’t available here to date, another is to use the USB-WiFi adapter to connect through a computer with an internet connection. The third which was the one I used, was to simply find a WiFi hotspot. In this case, I tested it at Starbucks across from Alabang Town Center (you know, the place with Security Bank). It was fine really. Not too fast, though not too slow either. I was able to check my Gmail, look at my blog, and other similar stuff. Of course, being the DS equivalent of a mobile browser, its not likely to have support for that many media features. You can browse webpages fine as long as they don’t have flash, and similar media, background music will not play and you don’t have the luxury of saving webpages due to the DS browser’s lack of storage. Then again, Opera has released several versions of the mobile browser so it wouldn’t be impossible for an update.

DS Browser, online and surfing

Surely though, I found the interface easier to use than that on the PSP (Yes, I have toyed with the Sony PSP enough to surf the net on it but joystick-based text input is too much of a hassle for me to bother). You are offered two modes of entry in the browser for the DS. The first is an on-screen keyboard on the touchscreen so you can simply tap your entries (not shown in the images), and the other is a handwriting recognition form which uses per-character recognition. You are given two boxes to write on, one letter at a time, in an alternating fashion (shown below).

DS Browser showing handwriting recognition mode

I would have preferred something similar to the pocketPC kind of handwriting input. There are different tabs for letters and numbers/symbols. This would mean quite a bit of difficulty when trying to write fast without a lot of practice.

Then again, with the DS’ battery life being much more capable than most laptops notebooks, if its for simple browsing, it works fine. Shame though that I couldn’t seem to log-in to my blogger account. It would have been fun to type this entry while I was still at Starbucks. Does anyone have an idea whether its possible to blog on this browser? Send me a note at gadgetspotter@gmail.com .
