Some of the pictures I uploaded in my Multiply account:

I started the day by going to mass with my Dad. My mom had a patient and Maru was still sleeping. The mass was kind of funny because the people were a bit noisy, there were a lot of kids, and the priest could hardly be heard (he sounded like he was talking gibberish). Mac arrived around 2PM with a gift! YES! An uber cute and very soft stuffed toy panda. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Its name is WU-WOO (the name of the post *lol* ). I also received a gift from my mom. She had my old art-on-a-white-shirt framed. 8) Seeing it brought back a lot of good memories of attending art classes in DBTI with Karen. ^_^

The first to arrive were Braggy and a percussionist Braggy invited over who had a girl friend with him. I think their names are Jojo (the percusionist) and Jill. Then Rayton arrived. We had lumpia, fries, and beer. Weird combination. ^_^V We had a little jamming and practice. Around 6, the girls and Bryce arrived. Phoebe surprised me with a cake! DDD Yep, it’s Phoebe and Jhan who gave me that delicious cake (see last picture from the set above). :9 Dinner was served around 7:30PM maybe. There were lots of food and deserts. *lol* After dinner, we had another round of jamming that totally drained me and my brother. sing

The night was good. I missed the videoke. 8) *lol* But that can be done next time. Pang-trip lang siguro namin ng mga gurlsss. Thanks to my friends who came/dropped by. I feel special. ^_^V I really appreciate it.

I’m going to end this post with another heart. *lol* –>

Cut Me Some Slack

Posted by jun.anteola on Monday, August 13th, 2007 @ 1:11 pm in Personal - Philippines.

It’s been a week since my last entry, and before I lose momentum again, I’d better post something. It’s not the lack of material to write about, for ideas come in unexpected times and places. But I couldn’t be bothered to stop and jot them down, which I often regret when my Wordpress page nags me to type something… anything.

Blogging can be a demanding commitment, too. If only because readership stats taking a steady dive isn’t a pleasant thing to see. Even if I had earlier on told myself that it’s mainly for leisure, and that I can’t be pressured. I lost much opportunity for link love when I failed to join the recently concluded Top Ten Emerging Influential Blogs of 2007. I got nominations from Jim and Massa P, and hadn’t procrastination set in, could have had fun at least. I can never be at par with those who won, but being in the list on its first two weeks was exciting, and being recognized by two of my most favored bloggers was gratifying.

The piled up memes, tag games and invitation posts, are another story. Getting them sure gets me worked up. But putting ideas into writing needed more push. I guess I should have paid more attention in Mrs. Andoy’s Journalism class. And Mrs. Gamotin’s S-V, S-V-O, S-V-IO-O chant shouldn’t have been boring! And maybe, I shouldn’t aim so much to impress.

Regretful and repentant, I’m back. :P

Thug Rap

Posted by A Day In The Life... on Monday, August 13th, 2007 @ 11:47 am in Miscellaneous.

I was at the gym earlier and I kinda noticed how the person in-charge of maintaining the facility kept on playing “thug-type” rap music…!  Then I noticed how similar all these songs sounded… and how all their lyrics are laced err… rather “filled” (to the brim) with profanity and expletives!

It’s like all they could say is “bitch”, “fuck”, “motherfucker”, and all the other crap you could think of.  I bet if you ask them to write some rap lyrics without the profanity, they’d be “dumbfucked” (pun intended).

No wonder the rap genre is at a decline… all the same words intertwined with unoriginal resampled choruses of old songs.  Ok… not only can they ONLY talk about bitches and motherfuckers and “capping” (”shooting” for the uninformed) other “niggas” (as they would normally call one another in their songs)… they also DON’T KNOW how to write original melodies to match their unrequited violent verses.

When they realize (yes, they also have realizations like normal people) that the words they’ve been using have been too worn out, they make up a bunch of new “slang” terminologies which actually have the same definitions as their old words… then they use these “made up” words to reconstruct new verses, which, in reality ARE the same in gist.

People actually buy THIS stuff?!!!

Why can’t most of them rap like some very few upstanding African-Americans in the music industry such as Will Smith who doesn’t believe in intertwining profanity with his lyrics?

Thug-Rap.  All about hatred… All about sex… All about violence… unoriginal… and NO musicality.  Such a pity… and an embarrassment to the industry.  Tsk-tsk!

Oh… and if you’re still wondering about the buy in charge of the music at the gym… yeah, I told him I’d be permanently leaving him with some new CDs when I come back… something with REAL MUSIC!

Hungry Ghost Festival

Posted by Culture Shiok! Singapore OFW on Monday, August 13th, 2007 @ 11:43 am in Personal - International.

For the Chinese, the 14th day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar is when the gates of hell open and the dead will again walk among the living. It's the start of the Hungry Ghost Festival.

It is believed that during this time, the souls of the unborn and that of departed ancestors and friends are released from Purgatory to wander the earth for 30 days. The souls of the dead ignored by relatives may do acts of mischief, so steps must be taken to appease the spirits before they go on a rampage. Hell money, paper offerings and joss sticks are burnt to see to their material needs; food is offered so that the souls do not go hungry and thus less likely to wreck havoc.

Neighbourhood celebration dinners or zhong yuan (popularly known as getai) are held on the feast day, with auction of goods, operas and song performances being part of the festivities. The Buddhists and the Taoists have different ways of celebrating the feast. As ghosts are believed to dominate events, no auspicious activities such as such as weddings and business launches are held during this period.

It's a very solemn festival of ancestor worshiping. The festival nevertheless represents a connection between the ancestors and the descendants, the living and the dead, earth and heaven, as well as body and soul.

So what do you have for the ghost sitting next to you...?

Grade School Chronicles: Grade One

Posted by Batang Yagit on Monday, August 13th, 2007 @ 9:56 am in Personal - Philippines.

A Love Story

We’ ve been friends for a long time ago. We come from the same alma mother. Actually, our paths crossed one time on another. But it’s only now that I gave him a second look. I realized that beauty is in the eyes. The pulpbits of my heart went fast, really fast. Cute pala siya. And then, he came over with me. He said, “I hope you don’t mine. Can I get your number?” Nag-worry ako. What if he doesn’t give it back? He explained naman na it’s so we could keep intact daw. Sabi ko, connect me if i’m wrong but are you asking me ouch? Nabigla siya. Sagot niya, The! Aba! Parang siya pa ang galit! Persona ingrata!!! Ang kapal niya! I cried buckles of tears.

Na-guilty yata siya. Sabi niya, isipin mo na lang na this is a blessing in the sky. Irregardless daw of his feelings, we’ll go ouch na rin. Now, we’re so in love. Mute and epidemic na ang past. Thanks God we swallowed our fried. Kasi, I’m 33 na and I’m running our time. After 2 weeks, he plopped the question. “Will you marriage me?” I’m in a state of shocked. Kasi mantakin mo, when it rains, it’s four! This is true good to be true. So siyempre, I said yes. Love is a many splendor.

Pero nung inaayos ko na ang aming kasal, everything swell to pieces. Nag-di-dinner kami noon nang biglang sa harap ng aming table, may babaeng humirit ng, “Well, well, well. Look do we have here.” What the fuss! The nerd ng babaeng yon! She said they were still on. So I told her, whatever is that, cut me some slacks! I didn’t want this to get our hand kaya I had to sip it in the bud. She accused me of steeling her boyfriend. Ats if! I don’t want to portrait the role of the other woman. Gosh, tell me to the marines! I told her, “please, mine you own business!” Who would believe her anyway?

Dahil it’s not my problem anymore but her problem anymore, tumigil na rin siya ng panggugulo. Everything is coming up daisies. I’m so happy. Even my boyfriend said liketwice. He’s so supportive. Sabi niya, “Look at is this way. She’s our of our lives.” Kaya advise ko sa inyo - take the risk. You can never can tell. Just burn the bridge when you get there. Life is shorts. If you make a mistake, we’ll just pray for the internal and external repose of your soul. I second emotion.

HotSpot Quest: Surprising Spots

Posted by GadgetSpotter on Monday, August 13th, 2007 @ 8:20 am in Technology.

After painstakingly dealing with books, handouts and xerox copies, who would have known that I would be able to find a really nice WiFi Hotspot just a bit south of the Metro.

Right in the middle of Gateway Center in Magallanes, at Dencio's to be specific, is a fairly decent access point. I would not wonder however, that there is one here. Most eating establishments already do. Other places I have seen which have the WiFi access point logo are at Starbucks, and Coffee Bean as well as several branches of Perk's.

But the judge of whether a Hotspot is indeed "hot" is how well it performs. It does unbelievably well. Considering that I would only have around an hour to test this, download speeds cap out at around 100kB/s while upload was a meager 24kB/s. Not that I mind though. Surfing even the media intensive sites I know takes only a few seconds. That is by far, good enough for something that is technically free.

Anxiety is build up! It's been two months now and still no NLE results. There are alot of versions regarding why the June 2007 NLE results not out yet. Some say that they are manually checking test 3 & 5 but im not sure why. Others says that they are now being careful and they are double checking everything. Bottom line is you need to go on with your lives. You can go ahead and study for NCLEX,

Iligan — City of Majestic Waterfalls

Posted by "Travel blogging? Is that thing still around?" on Monday, August 13th, 2007 @ 7:41 am in Personal - Philippines.

The first thing which comes to mind when someone mentions Iligan City in Lanao del Norte is the majestic Maria Cristina Falls which is one of the most replendent among the falls in the Philippines. It stands 320 feet high and is the veritable source of industrial power in the region. Trust me, there's more to Iligan than just the Maria Cristina Falls... There's also the two-tiered Limunsudan Falls which is the highest in the country that measures 870 feet and several other waterfalls which are all worthy of a visit.

Located at the northwestern coast of Mindanao, bounded on the south by the municipality of Linamon of Lanao del Norte; on the north by Lugait, Misamis Oriental; on the east by the territories of Lanao del Sur and Bukidnon; and on the west by Iligan Bay.

From Luzon or Visayas, the fastest and most convenient way to get to Iligan is by air to Cagayan de Oro (CDO). From CDO you can take a bus and travel 86 kilometers to Iligan.

Othere Points of Interest in Iligan:

Macapagal-Macaraeg Ancestral House - The ancestral house of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Anahaw Open Amphitheater - It is the biggest open amphitheater in Mindanao and it is the best site to view Iligan City.

Timoga Cold Spring - It has pristine, cool and crystal clear waters freely flowing towards several swimming pools

"Adlaw sa Iligan" festival commemorates the founding of the city every 16th of June and every 27th of September the city holds the "Kasadya Festival" (literally means merry making) features Iligan's best dances.

Baguio Bagyo

Pumasok na ang bagyong Egay sa Pilipinas. Malamang, uulan sa mga sumusunod na araw.

Ito ang pang-limang bagyong papasok sa bansa. Ibig sabihin, more storms to come.

F- Falayfay

G-Greta (kontrobersiyal kasi si Gretchen ngayong taon)

H- Hipnesia (ang pangalang inimbento ko yata.)

I- Indira (In honor of Indira Gandhi)

N- Nonong (Nagamit na ata to.)

O- Oca (Amoy baktol ‘to.)

P- Pida (Wala lang)

Q- Qatar, Qusina, Qulambo, Qare-Qare

R- Rihanna (Bagyo. You need: Umbrella, ella, ella)

S- Salvi (Peace, Padre Salvi)

T- Tita/Tina

U- Ungga (para may local flavor)

V- Vicky

W- Winona

Get Paid by Smorty

Posted by A Matter of Perspective on Monday, August 13th, 2007 @ 1:04 am in Personal - International.

Yes, I've gotten approval today from another one of those get-paid-to-blog companies. This time it is from Smorty.com.

Just like the rest, you get paid to blog about your opinions of the products and/or services of a variety of advertisers who are also their client. Basically, it's a two-way street between the blogger and advertiser with Smorty as the middle-man.

Actually, this blog was initially denied approval when I first submitted it to their site. I admit my blog did not generate enough traffic at that time so it was no surprise to get a rejection from them. But after a couple of weeks since then, I decided to try my luck once more and resubmitted my blog for reconsideration. An hour later, I got their approval. I give them two thumbs up for their quick response to my request! :)

I'm liking their blogger's dashboard as well. It's very easy to maneuver around and the layout is simple and quite direct, most definitely user-friendly. Oh, and one more important thing, pay-out is on a weekly basis. :) Now, that, I think, is a good incentive for all of their blogger members.

Alright, time for me to cash in more of those posts. I'll be back to later write the outcomes of this new venture of mine, once I see results.
