Saksakan na (chismis ito)

Posted by Batang Yagit on Saturday, September 8th, 2007 @ 6:53 pm in Personal - Philippines.

Ilang araw lang akong nawala sa school, anadami nang nangyari. Exciting talaga tong year na to.

The Road Where We Live…

Posted by Must Be That Girl! on Saturday, September 8th, 2007 @ 4:45 pm in Personal - Philippines.

One day our lord and mistress (the Baranggay Captain and the Congresswoman) were finally able to grant us that grace that we have been wishing for quite sometime already. Our old stony not to mention very dusty road was replaced with a concrete one. The plan to make it concrete was actually conceived some ten years back, but it sat in the City Engineer’s office waiting for the right signature, the right time and most importantly that much needed funding.

Finally after 10 long dusty and muddy years, after 2 Baranggay captains, a few elections in between, and perhaps 2 meteor showers (which were probably instrumental in granting our wish), our road has finally underwent a facelift and became concrete.

The kids immediately showed their appreciation, took control of the road, and played to their hearts' content. Thank God, these kids chose to forego the internet games and decided to play street games instead. Or else they would have missed enjoying the freedom and the highs that comes from running around under the clear sunny skies...

Big Problem: I dropped my laptop and it wont work anymore

Posted by Silkenhut's World on Saturday, September 8th, 2007 @ 7:48 am in Miscellaneous.

What do you do if you accidentally knocked your laptop off a chair and it fails into the ground with a thud?

I was calmly looking at it. Seconds later, I exclaimed, “OHMAYGAWD!!!” and checked what happened to it.

But first, let me tell you the events prior to it…

The laptop is resting nicely on a monoblock chair when I stood up and looked around my room. I realized that my cousin will be going back today so I should not put my stuffs on his bed anymore. The only thing I put there was a laptop box (new one & not mine) and a laptop back with a new laptop inside (not mine). So I decided to transfer it near my bed.

I started to carry it with me and I was near the chair where my laptop is resting. I tried to squeeze the box I was carrying between the chair and the computer table when the box slapped the chair, thus the laptop was shaken from its slumber and it fell butt first into the floor. THUD!

I stood frozen and carefully placed the laptop bag and the laptop box on my bed and went to check up on the poor laptop. The laptop had its mouth wide open (cd/dvd tray open in an awkward way) and it’s still powered on however, there was nothing on the screen anymore.

So what’s the condition of the laptop?

Well, I can still turn it on and the lights will go on. That’s all. No displays, no fan revolution, no hard disk sounds, no bios screen, no nothing just lights.

To make things worse, here are the stuffs that the laptop had exclusive access only (files I don’t have anywhere else, in other words, no back up):

  • My thesis documents and PDF sources
  • My resume
  • My school documents
  • My mp3s (I just downloaded a couple of songs today gadamet)
  • My pictures… the memories…

Not only that, the warranty has expired months ago so if ever I want to get this repaired, I need to shell out cash.

Even if the laptop would die, I just want my hard disk back… *sobs* …*sobs more* … *sobs… sniff… *

it’s been a while.

Underwater World Singapore

Posted by Culture Shiok! Singapore OFW on Saturday, September 8th, 2007 @ 5:12 am in Personal - International.

The Underwater World, situated on Sentosa, is another Singapore attraction you surely wouldn't want to miss. It's one of Asia's biggest oceanariums.

Underwater World is a great treat for everyone, kids and adults alike. The exhibits are simply breathtaking, showcasing some 2500 marine life from 250 species from around the regions. It is exremely popular with visitors for providing fun leisure and education. Most of the exhibits are interactive, encouraging learning and understanding of undersea life and its fragility. There are several stations where you can actually touch the different varieties of live fishes, sharks, stingrays and a lot more. You'll also see the different types of crab and jellyfish.

The highlight of Underwater World is the spectacular 83-meter long aquarium tunnel. There, you can walk through or just stand in awe while viewing the awesome marine life. There's a big 'conveyor belt' that will take you to the different exhibits within the tunnel. You'll be among big and small fishes, sharks and stingrays. They also have a dugong.

After Underwater World, you can move on to Dolphin Lagoon where you can get to watch "pink" dolphins in action. See them tail-walk, hop, play with balls and hula hoops. You can even hear them 'talk.'

Can you also see him in this class photo?

Photos taken from his alumni class site. He was an award-winning editor in chief in their high school paper The Chronicler. He was also part of the school's student officers that year as PRO.

According to their yearbook, he dreamed of becoming a lawyer. Thank God, he ended up in journalism. Can you imagine the profession without him?

As in hindi. Walang connection.

He was a martyr who had died for all his sins
He was a lover too scared to love a thing
She saw a flicker; she confused it with a star
And helplessly she folded when the wind blew out her heart
Yeah! Yeah!
From fields of green to the valleys of chrome
I’m building thick between skin and bone
Yeah! Yeah!
I’ve burned those bridges a long time ago
Rise above myself and the ashes of home
He was a sucker for a deal already dead
He was a gambler too afraid to bet
Her mercy was a memory
She didn’t want him; he never called
Leaving on his journey; his children on the Wailing Wall
Yeah! Yeah!
From fields of green to the valleys of chrome
I’m building thick between skin and bone
Yeah! Yeah!
I’ve burned those bridges a long time ago
Rise above myself and the ashes of home
Pull out my bleeding heart
And eyes of burning coals
Take off my crown of thorns
And die, die, die
Peel off my shredded skin
Disarm my every word
I swear I’ll never bow
You’re all ghosts to me now
Pull out my blackened heart
Take off my tattered shell
Won’t punctuate myself
When I say, “Imbecile”
Chew back my goddamn words
Pin down my vicious tongue
I am oblivion!
I’m every mother’s son

This house of lies just never felt so real
But then again I don’t know how to feel
No use to cry, no time to mourn
‘Cause you know you’ve been dying
since the day that you were born
This house of lies is all I’ve ever known
And all this time I’ve just been living here alone
No use to cry, no time to mourn
‘Cause you know you’ve been dying
since the day that you were born
Oh can you take away, all this bitterness?
Oh won’t you wash away, the demons in my head?
Can you make me alive?
No use to cry, not time to mourn
‘Cause you know you’ve been dying
since the days that you were born

You wanna ride?
Door’s open, won’t you come on up inside?
You wanna die?
Door’s open, come on sit right by my side
I’ll be your hate; I’ll be your greed
I’ll be the sight upon which the blinded see
I’ll be your wealth; I’ll be your need
I’ll be the food upon which the hungry feed
I am the nighttime staring at the blackness
Staring at the nothing
Staring back, oh yeah
Ride with me
You wanna die?
Apple’s ripe; won’t you take another bite?
Give me a try
Ripe and ready, have just a little if you like
I’ll be your rage; I’ll be your hope
I’ll be the faith upon which the wounded float
I’ll be your joy; I’ll be your pain
The biting wind blowing through the desert plains
I am the nighttime staring at the blackness
Staring at the nothing
Staring back, oh yeah
Die for me
I’m now your everything
The drugs that you need
Salvation is my fee
Upon your soul I’ll feed
I am the enemy
A new social disease
I’m gonna set you free
Love to watch you bleed
I am the nighttime staring at the blackness
Staring at the nothing
Staring back, oh yeah
Bleed for me

Anger vented spread like disease
One-time admirers fell to their knees
The world did beg you not to proceed
You turned your head and did what you pleased
Aim! Fire!
This time no compromise
Aim! Fire!
No one gets out alive
Aim! Fire!
This time no compromise
Aim! Fire!
Five alive!
You gonna shake the masses?
Will you unite the classes?
You gonna move molasses?
Or kiss their asses?
The heat of battle caught in the spell
Snake recoils and bites its own tail
Now the wounded kill to repel
Sign the deal and go straight to hell
Holstered guns, mouth tasting oil
Spit and grin; your victory’s sown
The war’s not over til the last stone’s thrown
When will your boys be coming home?
Fire! Fire! Fire! Fire!
Five alive!
