My Poor Thumb

Posted by A Matter of Perspective on Sunday, September 23rd, 2007 @ 9:32 pm in Personal - International.

Lately, I have been complaining to J about my sore thumb. It started around three weeks ago, a day after one of our trips to the mall when I had to carry Erin around because she did not want to be seated in her stroller. I've tried not putting too much strain on it but this seems to be an impossible task to follow with all the chores to be done. The fact that Erin is growing heavier each day is not helping either because I really do need to carry her once in a while.

My impression is that I may have De Quervain's tenosynovitis. When I was still working in the clinic back home, I used to get a lot of patients with this condition, often referred for splinting. I noticed that most of these patients were housewives and I suppose that constant trauma to the tendon due to everyday chores is really the culprit. And being a homemaker myself, it is not entirely impossible that I also develop it too. *sigh*

Medications are definitely out of the question at the moment as I am still breastfeeding Erin. So is rest. :( If the pain does not stop, I may have to get myself a splint or see a specialist about it.

ISABEL PREYSLER: 'CUANDO ESTOY CON MIS HIJOS Y MI MARIDO SOY TOTALMENTE FELIZ'
Hola Magazine

Today’s Leah’s birthday!

Posted by HyukTa.net on Sunday, September 23rd, 2007 @ 3:51 pm in Personal - Philippines.

I was catching up on DA journal entries. One of Tricia’s post is about her net ‘fans’. Well, she’s certainly famous now with all the guys who like her, but that’s still kind of sick. ~_~

I saw this GQ September 2007 cover image of Paris Hilton at Catwalk Queen some weeks ago.

Paris Hilton on GQ

The instant I saw it, this came to mind:

Leah Dizon's Softly cover

I prefer Leah’s shot of course. I’d be crazy if I choose Paris over her. ^_^V Btw, it’s Leah’s birthday today! DDD I’m going to compose an entry on her later at my VOX account.

I haven’t blogged much lately because there is nothing to blog about. AS USUAL. XP As much as I want to write things about my daily life, I can’t because there’s nothing different going on. Hmm, let’s see… Last week I went to school to talk to our thesis class adviser about our topic. Ialready talked about that before. I kind of already understood what she means. Now, she’s the only one who doesn’t understand us. When we said we will modify the questionnaires, she asked how would our study be valid if we will just change them. Our reference said that it is fine to modify the questionnaires based on the city we will be studying on. Example, I believe that not all urban areas have wastewater treatment plants. If we do our study on an area without wastewater treatment plants and the questionnaire needs to have that data, what would we put, right? Ugh~ It’s so easy to explain yet so hard for them to understand.

^_^V I always talk about our thesis that way, don’t I? *lol*

We had a short practice yesterday. It was unplanned. Mac and Rayton’s friend just planned it on whim. I said yes suddenly without giving it much thought. Since I woke up at 2PM, my mind was like empty and slow. *lol* We will have a gig on Oct. 6. I hope Jackie will be able to join us… To perform that Lily Allen song too. ^_~

I have yet to know someone who had eyelash transplant. I’m glad I have nice eyelashes. (Yes, I’m happy with mine.) If not, I would have to do everything for the transplant… You know, like earning the dough for it. *lol* I’ll save money though on buying eye mascaras. DDD I’d like mine thick and long. Though, buying mascaras in my lifetime might be cheaper. *lol*

I got to upload the pictures of Leah Dizon, rename the ID3v2 tags of The Tallywood String Quartet albums I just downloaded, and burn those mp3 for my Dad so will blog again next time. Some drama came up. I’m even rubbing ice on my eyes. (

iPhone sold in NCCC

Posted by Batang Yagit on Sunday, September 23rd, 2007 @ 8:30 am in Personal - Philippines.

Yeah, I saw an iPhone in one of the mobile phone shops in NCCC Mall tonight. I was looking for the new models of iPod and i happened to come across the iPhone box. I thought it's one of those Chinese clones sold here but the packaging does not say so.

I deliberately asked the guy inside the store if it's original. He said it's original, open-line and it's sold at 55k. Check the picture below. If you have doubts, check it at the 3rd floor of the NCCC Mall (Ma-a, Davao City). I'm not sure about it either. I didn't know that Apple is selling iPhones which are open (or hacked) by default.

Kundiman and old Philippine songs rock!

Posted by on Sunday, September 23rd, 2007 @ 5:05 am in Politics.

If you like or interested in knowing more about Kundiman and other Philippine classical songs, there are two blogs out there created by one passionate lover of these two almost-forgotten genres in Philippine music.

It’s a pity that you can’t find any program catering to these types of music in the local television anymore, or at least none that I know of. I am not sure if Armida Siguion Reyna’s Aawitan Kita is still airing, but the last time I saw it was around two years ago or more, showing at a God-forsaken hour. When I was a child and much to my consternation then, I was forced to watch Aawitan Kita by my mother, who likes old Philippine songs. Back then, we only had one TV set and computers, I think at that time, had yet to be commercially released.

But thinking about it now, I am thankful that my mother had forced me to watch the program. It has encouraged me to later explore other genres of music, and not just being content with the usual mainstream hits that have become the regular staple of radio programs and even MTV or MYX.

Too bad there’s no Aawitan Kita episode uploaded on Youtube (except a video showing Cris Villonco singing in the program and one karaoke song), for the sake of the younger generations who have never heard of any kundiman or Philippine classical song.

Please visit these links: Kundiman and Philippine Classical Music. The Kundiman blog also has several patriotic kundiman songs.

Another K. Wasabi pic spam ^_^

Posted by HyukTa.net on Sunday, September 23rd, 2007 @ 2:46 am in Personal - Philippines.

More pics! D I checked if I have uploaded all the pictures of the band from past to present, but I still haven't. I wonder when I'll be able to move all the pics from HyukTa.net Gallery to my Multiply account. -_- ;

We had a gig last August 18, 2004 at Town Square, Sucat. Only 4 of us performed that night. Although there were a few of us, we really had fun. ^_^ Jozen and Roland are really great to be with.

Humble Sauce, one of the bands who performed that night. I think they're the first band.

This was after the gig. We were just camwhoring.

A few days after (August 24, 2004), we had a gig in the now non-existent Orchidia's Bar. This was located in Intramuros where I know doesn't really support bars like that. / There were only 4 of us again. We had a great time as we walked around the area looking for beer and even camwhoring. ^_^

Tita Sandra and I; she, Tito Tomo, Tita Pepot, and Lola came to watch us. XD

August 2004 K. Wasabi

Giving band lessons. ~_~ Why were the audience sitting, wtf!?

Before these two gigs, we had a 2-gigs night before. We played at KSP Bar and then at Club Indios. Thanks very much for Luv for inviting us. We owe you A LOT!!! I won't forget that. ) Of course, this gig dates back in 2004.

Front, left to right: Roland, Burigs, Sarah
Back: Shabby P

Alright, here's one from our most recent gig. It was held in One Luv Bar on its first opening night. Hmm, all I can say is that it isn't the most welcoming bar we've played at among the others. / And when I contacted those in charge of the gigs and the place, I ended up being ignored. ~_~

We don't have pictures of our performance. -_-
