I want my own bike rack

Posted by on Saturday, September 29th, 2007 @ 10:53 pm in Personal - International.

A Singapore town council notice reads: “Your bicycle is parked at an undesignated place. Please park at the bike rack, failing which we will move it to the rubbish dump.”

There are designated bike racks in HDB and private condominium unit here in Singapore. They are usually located at the void decks which makes it very convenient. No need to bring your bike up to your flat.

For me, I’d rather have my own bike rack, inside my flat. There are many different types of bike racks and I’m sure I can easily get one that would work best for my needs. I would prefer a ceiling mount or a wall mount to save some space.

What type of bike rack do you want?

My henna tattoo in Bora

Posted by Batang Yagit on Saturday, September 29th, 2007 @ 9:29 pm in Personal - Philippines.

It's the first tattoo design that I had. It's my henna tattoo when we went to Boracay.

Henna tattoos are not bad after all. They easily wash off after a couple of days. Of course, there are no health hazards unlike with permanent tattoos. If you are interested of having your own tattoos designs, you can check Design My Tattoos and have your custom designed tattoo.

Tattoo, never

Posted by Batang Yagit on Saturday, September 29th, 2007 @ 9:10 pm in Personal - Philippines.

A design I found from the star tattoos gallery.

While browsing the internet, i found this tattoo gallery where they feature different tattoo designs. When I was a kid, I heard that one of my uncle in Mati was scolded because he was discovered having a tattoo on his back. That was the time that "having a tattoo is bad" was instilled on my mind.

Aside from that, I also heard rumors that people with tattoos must
have been from prison. Of course, I don't people to mistake me as an ex-convict. They also say that people with tattoo might not be able to donate blood because they're blood is not good. (Probably because of the ink). Well I'm not sure with that but still, even if I have no tattoos on, I won't be donating blood anyway.

Lastly, they said that the you won't be able to have your VISA (for whatever country you want to go) approved if they find out that you have a tattoo. Of course I don't want to have tattoo as a reason why I can't travel abroad.

I don't know if these rumors are true. Whether it's true or not, I won't be having any permanent tattoo on my body.

SingaporeMedicine: Medical Tourism in Singapore

Posted by Culture Shiok! Singapore OFW on Saturday, September 29th, 2007 @ 8:22 pm in Personal - International.

Have you ever considered going to another country for your health care needs?

Would you travel overseas for elective procedures or complex specialized surgeries such as joint replacement, cardiac surgery, dental surgery and cosmetic surgeries?

There are several factors that have led to the recent increase in popularity of medical travel, these include the high cost of health care or wait times for procedures in industrialized nations, the ease and affordability of international travel, and improvements in technology and standards of care in many countries of the world.

Singapore is one of the leading health care services hub in the region, more than 150,000 international patients coming here each year for a whole range of medical care. Some come for health screening, others for eye, heart and brain surgeries. Yet others come for cancer treatment. Whether their needs are basic or complex, patients find assurance in a world-class health care system that emphasizes safety and pushes the boundaries of excellence.

The country's medical tourism initiative, SingaporeMedicine, builds upon the island-nation's well-established health care system and strong reputation for quality medicine. It also fits well with Singapore's growing biomedical sciences efforts in basic, translational and clinical research.

Besides reasons of top-notch expertise, advanced technology, a safe environment and a healthcare system they can trust, international patients also choose Singapore for the multiracial and multilingual setting that puts them at ease.

Treating Prostate Cancer

Posted by on Saturday, September 29th, 2007 @ 7:22 pm in Personal - International.

According to the Singapore Cancer Society, prostate cancer is the 6th most common cancer among Singaporean men.

Prostate cancer symptoms often does not show, but locally extensive prostate cancer may produce obstruction of the ureters by the primary tumour, which may lead to kidney failure. Sometimes the cancer may spread to the bones.

Prostate cancer may be detected through routine rectal examination, blood test, biopsy, transrectal ultrasonography and bone scans.

HIFU, which is short for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound, is a state-of-the-art technology acoustic ablation technique that utilizes the power of ultrasound to destroy deep-seated tissue with pinpoint accuracy for treatment of prostate cancer. HIFU focuses sound waves in a targeted area which rapidly increases the temperature in the focal zone causing tissue destruction.

The control and precision of HIFU reduces the risk of common side effects such as impotence and incontinence.

HIFU is a 1-3 hour, one-time procedure preformed on an out-patient basis under spinal or epidural anesthesia. Unlike radiation, HIFU is non-ionizing so it can be repeated if necessary without damaging healthy tissue. This means that HIFU can also be used as a salvage technique if other prostate cancer treatments fail.

Sharon Cuneta is now an OFW caregiver in London

Posted by Filipino Cultured - Art Entertainment Culture & Inspiration, Celebrities Movies Music Blog on Saturday, September 29th, 2007 @ 5:54 pm in Entertainment.

Yes, it's true ladies and gentlemen, Sharon Cuneta has become an overseas Filipino worker in London, England working as a caregiver.

The 41-year old megastar who looks amazing by the way for her age, has started filming her movie, "Caregiver in London," with director Chito Roño before leaving for a US-Canada tour earlier this week. It’s a dream come true for the actress to work with the award winning director.

"Caregiver in London" is a production of Star Cinema and will be filmed in, where else, but the United Kingdom, just like "Milan" and "Dubai", the previous critically-acclaimed productions of the film outfit shot in other countries.

In "Caregiver in London," Sharon plays a school teacher waiting for the petition of her husband who's working as a nurse in London. Playing Sharon’s leading man for the first time is John Estrada, while Makisig Morales is playing her son in the movie. While waiting for the petition of her husband, Sharon takes a course in caregiving. When she gets to London, she immediately finds work as a caregiver through the help of Jodi Sta. Maria.

In the film, Jodi is married to Jhong Hilario. Conflict and trouble arise for Sharon and John while they are in London and they realize that life in a foreign country is not for them.

Before Direk Chito leaves for London to start filming, he is set to wrap up work on the suspense-thriller, "Dagaw," starring Richard Gutierrez and Marvin Agustin for GMA Films.

John, meanwhile, is also busy with his latest TV series. He plays contravida to Vhong Navarro in "Lastikman." He was last seen as a villain in "Flordeluna."

Exam jokes and live-action adaptations

Posted by HyukTa.net on Saturday, September 29th, 2007 @ 5:00 pm in Personal - Philippines.

If I joked in our quizzes or exams in college, I bet I would have been in big trouble. XD But in high school I always made fun of our seatworks in Christian class. *lol* I’m bad.

Expand the equation

The hangman equation
Hangman in Calculus

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles FTW!
TMNT! XD

This came from the Top 10 Most Hilarious Test Answers. ^_^ Patapete blogged about it days ago.

Now for the live action series/dramas/movies I wanted to blog about. I’m looking forward to most of these (actually all of them as I am curious!). First off is Mahou Sensei Negima! Live Action. A trailer is out. I found the Mahou Sensei Negima video from this blog. I’m not really impressed and I feel like I got excited for NOTHING. Negi’s hair looks bad. ~_~

Legend of Kamui Good news to Kenichi Matsuyama (L of Death and Shin in Nana) fans! Aside from his upcoming movie, L, look forward to the live-action adaptation of Kamui Gaiden. Kamui Gaiden contains the side stories to the original Legend of Kamui manga. Yōichi Sai will direct the movie. He’s best known for his work Chi to Hone. The shooting will start this November and release will be on 2009. (Source: ANN) I didn’t really like him as Shin in Nana though he was good in the Death Note movies. ^_^ I can’t wait to see him in L and in this movie too. The next movie (I bet some of you will be surprised and won’t be too happy) is Voltron: Defender of the Universe. It’s said that with the success of the Transformers (2007) movie, New Regency Productions’ interest in doing this has increased. Justine Marks is the scriptwriter for this live-action. His plot description — …a post-apocalyptic tale set in New York City and Mexico. Five ragtag survivors of an alien attack band together and end up piloting the five lion-shaped robots that combine and form the massive sword-wielding Voltron that helps battle Earth’s invaders. — I think the movie will be more fun if he stuck with the original plot instead of making up one and just using the lion robots. ~_~

City Hunter, after several adaptations, there will be another but a TV series this time. The main actor will be Jung Woo-sung. I think I have the City Hunter anime and manga. I hope I can get around to watching the anime before the series is shown. A movie adaptation for Higurashi no Naku Koro ni will be shown on 2008. It’s a suspense/thriller story which makes me want to see. There are ‘fans’ though who are against this movie. They even have a petition to stop the movie production.

Mousou Shoujo Otaku Kei will have a live-action adaptation! For those who haven’t heard of this title, based on ANN — The romantic comedy manga series centers around an obsessive fujoshi (female fan of manga and novels featuring male-male relationships) who falls in love with a “normal” classmate in their first year in high school. — This will be a fun watch! I hope it’s a series. ^_^V The news doesn’t say whether this will be a movie or series.

BL FANS! The ff. is major news for you. XD I got excited when I read about two BL titles being made into live action movies. First is Takumi-kun. Since Takumi-kun is a collection of novels, the movie will be based tentatively on its first story. The second is Ai no Kotodama by Konno Keiko. Here’s a short description of the 2-volume story:

After graduating from high school, Tachibana and Otani have finally confessed their love for each other and are living together. However, their co-habitation is totally ruined when they run into an old high school buddy, Yuki. Otani has always been suspicious of the friendship between Tachibana and Yuki. And honestly, his suspicions may not be that far off… –B-U Manga

Hopefully when they’re released, they’ll be ripped and subbed right away unlike Boys Love. ^_^V For old news (I say old because I bet I’m the last to know of this among my LJ friends who are fellow fans), China will create a live-action TV series of THE PRINCE OF TENNIS. O_o (Source: ANN)

Other series and movies I want to mention, but won’t go to details anymore are Hataraki Man, Robotech, and Speed Racer (yes, there’s finally news on this!)

Sources aside from ANN are this, this, and this. ^_^

An Open Letter to Yahoo! Mail

Posted by Batang Yagit on Saturday, September 29th, 2007 @ 2:09 pm in Personal - Philippines.

Dear Yahoo! Mail,

I've been been a registered user of Yahoo since I was in first year high school. I was still an internet newbie back then. I was so amazed how e-mails work and how I could possible send a message to the other part of the world in seconds.

I was also fascinated on how you broke the old ways of sending messages. From hand written letters to plain electronic texts, you introduced multimedia in e-mails. I was one of those Yahoo Greetings fanatics. Everytime I go online, for no particular reason that I can remember, I usually check Yahoo Greetings for new electronic greeting cards. And whenever I find something new, I immediately send it to my few friends who has a Yahoo Email account.

E-mail in those days, as I remember, is usually associated with you. All of my friends use Yahoo mail in e-mails. The storage capacity was not even a problem back then. I was contented with the 6MB e-mail inbox capacity you have provided me. I even thought it was too much. I usually occupy less than 50% of my inbox during those days.

But my attention was driven to Google when GMail was still on its early stage. I was one of those people who were privileged to get an invitation to try GMail. During this time, I already understand how email systems work. I was fascinated with GMail to the point of forgetting you. The features that GMail offer is incomparable to what you already have. The storage was not even 10% of what GMail gives to their users.

I did not leave you yet. I still use you is receiving e-mails. You were my first love. I did not even bother asking other people to forward their emails on my Gmail account. But as time passed by, my fascination for you faded away. You were nothing compared to my Gmail account. But you tried to cope up. You provided us with more storage. You even tried to compete the AJAX powered interface of Gmail.

I am writing this letter to you because I am so disappointed with you. I hate the way you manage SPAM E-mails. A friend once sent me a Gmail invitation and you treated it as a spam because you were mad with gmail. Another friend, who is one of those Sacramento plastic surgeons, sent me a personal e-mail containing his business promotion, you considered it a spam. I have to digg my Bulk folder just to find that business promotion which I asked from them. Up to date, most of the e-mail I receive in your inbox are spam. I got tired of checking you everyday.

Your 'Mark as Spam' feature must be broken because I still receive these annoying spam messages. Ninety percent of my inbox are spam messages. Even if I have marked it as spam, it always keep coming back on my inbox. As of the time I wrote this line, two spam mails have already popped out of my screen.

I can never rely on you again like the way I did few years ago. In fact, you S*CK. Yes Yahoo Mail, you S*CK. Everytime I open your page, what I see is the Yahoo! Mail Loser logo. You are almost out of the scene.

Goodbye my old friend.

The posse's feelin' groovy though I ain't feelin' fine
Sometimes I get so moody I think i'm outta line
And then I'm always edgy, I think I'm new and done
Could this get any better because I'm getting older

Wait till they come in the nick of time
The beautiful ones to caress my mind
The love they gave was so fittin' and sublime
Why do they tell us its a waste of time

We're playin' so much better, we're climbin' up the road yeah
But still I'm feelin' nowhere, somebody show me how
They tried to tell myself now, somebody showed me how
And get myself together, and find a posse-bility

The posse takes me to the ground to see what goes around
I'm feelin' very heavy, I'm fallin' off the crowd yeah

And so I told my fellas, I found myself again
Looked down, forget and wrecked us, I think we'll won again
I found a posse-bility, and now I cannot be with three
And now we feel so groovy, and then we can uptune

It's a waste of time

We got to try

It's only gettin' you reworked
Disgustin' thought caress your head
And you just can't forgive yourself

Don't blink, don't close your eyes
Coz here it comes, a big surprise
There's somethin' fuckin' inside you
Don't close your eyes, just let it catch you
Don't blink, don't blink

Direct me to put out the fire
When you should cross the final line
The feelin' of evil desire
The pleasure make me so divine

I still think you understand
Things are getting out of hand
What's the point of how you even think

Love, love, love
It's such a permanent thing
We'll laugh and cry
and don't remember a thing
Love, love, love
Makes me look up the sky
I look down and I wonder why

We could be happy If your raw ends are round
We could be happy yeah we'd be fine
We could be happy if you open up your mind
Can you feel loved, that could be intertwined

This lonely world's not for you and me
There's no room for this jealousy
My contribution is belittled by me
Let's love each other babe
My mother may

Love you have could be so good
But then and only we misunderstood
The love we had can be so bad
Don't ya get it baby
That's all we have

Love, love, love
When we're on the go
Wait a minute baby
Let's take it slow
Love, love, love
Won't you be in my shoes
Don't you worry babe
I won't be hit till the blues

My first pay cheque is from….. Advertlets.com

Posted by on Saturday, September 29th, 2007 @ 9:17 am in Personal - International.

I hope it’s not only wishful thinking. I haven’t received any pay cheque since I decided to monetize my blog as few months back.

I believe it will come from Advertlets.com. I’ve put up Advertlets.com ads for more than a month now and have been an active member (*wink wink*).

The people in the picture are RM50 richer after winning in one of Advertlets.com contests for their members. I’m quite lucky too, I got an instant SGD25 just by reviewing Advertlets.com. So it won’t be long till I get my first cheque. With the numerous ad sponsors, all I have to do is put up more ad codes and participate actively whenever there are sponsored posting opportunities.

Farewell to my friends,
thought I'd leave you all behind me.
My time is runnin and I'm about to lose my mind again.

Now and then, I tremble all over
but I will carry the load upon my shoulder,
but I know this would all be over
as soon as I open my eyes.

Is it loneliness?
maybe emptiness?
maybe melancholy.
Have a piece of this.

Now I see the sunlight shining through
there's no reason to be blue,
but, now I know I'm going down,
I look all around me
and laugh like a clown/no I won't frown.
Can anybody help me when I'm down?
and anybody since I'm just a clown,
but now I know love will stick around
coz I've been lost and found.

Sa aking paningin iba't ibang landas,
punong puno ng kulay ingat lang sa ahas,
pagasang hinahanap laging nawawalan,
kaunting halik sa ulap ako'y nabulagan.

Ayoko nang isipin, hindi na uulitin.

Nadapa, nalunod, ayaw nang bumangon,...,
kailangan nang umahon, alam kong ito'y nakakalito,
kaluluway's wag sanang lumayo.

Mabuti

Sharon Cuneta is now an OFW caregiver in London

Posted by Filipino Cultured - Art Entertainment Culture & Inspiration, Celebrities Movies Music Blog on Saturday, September 29th, 2007 @ 5:14 am in Entertainment.

Yes, it's true ladies and gentlemen, Sharon Cuneta has become an overseas Filipino worker in London, England working as a caregiver.

The 41-year old megastar who looks amazing by the way for her age, has started filming her movie, "Caregiver in London," with director Chito Roño at the helm before she left for a US-Canada tour early this week. It’s a dream-come-true for the actress to work with Direk Chito, since she has always expressed her desire to have a film with the award winning director.

"Caregiver in London" is a production of Star Cinema and will be filmed in, where else, but the United Kingdom, just like "Milan" and "Dubai," previous critically-acclaimed productions of the film outfit shot in other countries.

In "Caregiver in London," Sharon plays a school teacher waiting for the petition of her husband, who works as a nurse in London. Playing Sharon’s leading man for the first time is John Estrada, while Makisig Morales plays her son in the movie. While waiting for the petition of her husband, Sharon decides to take a crash course in caregiving. When she gets to London, she immediately finds work as a caregiver through the help of Jodi Sta. Maria.

In the film, Jodi is married to Jhong Hilario, who obviously landed a role in the film because he is a talent of Direk Chito. Conflict and trouble arise with Sharon and John while they are in London and they realize life in a foreign country is not for both of them.

Before Direk Chito leaves for London to start filming of the Sharon movie, he is set to wrap up work on the suspense-thriller, "Dagaw," starring Richard Gutierrez and Marvin Agustin for GMA Films.

John, meanwhile, is also busy with his latest TV series. He plays contravida to Vhong Navarro in "Lastikman." He was last seen also as a villain in "Flordeluna."

We waited on the morning news, but there was nothing on this matter. Not until early this afternoon, Porche saw it on GMA news. They said her neck was slashed. Oh gawd. -_- Then they said it might be suicide that I think is BULLSHIT. That’s just a sick way of killing yourself, don’t you think? Her wrists were also slashed they mentioned. Whoever murdered her did that, so it would seem it’s suicide. Before I quote the news I found on several Philippine news sites about her, what we found out before the news announcement is that she was stabbed many times. The hotel she was found at is Richmonde Hotel in Ortigas Center.

Laywer who filed DQ case vs FPJ found dead in Ortigas hotel

Maria Jeanette Tecson, one of the lawyers who filed a case against Fernando Poe Jr in 2004, was found dead at the Richmonde Hotel in San Miguel Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig City, authorities said on Saturday.

Based on initial investigation, Tecson’s body — with multiple wounds in her throat and wrist — was found about 8:30 p.m., Friday. Senior Supt. Francisco Uyami, Pasig City police chief, said that when the corpse was found, its limbs were already stiff, suggesting that the 40-year-old lawyer was already several hours dead before her remains were discovered.

Investigators have not yet determined the cause of Tecson’s death.

Tecson filed a petition asking the Supreme Court to disqualify Poe from running in the 2004 presidential elections.

She claimed Poe was born out of wedlock and thus should not be allowed to take the Filipino citizenship of his father. Tecson said that while Poe’s birth certificate was dated 1939, his parents Allan Poe and American mother Bessie Kelly did not marry until 1940. - GMANews.TV
