Saving heaps

I have been talking about coupons incessantly, if you’ve noticed. That is because I am a frequent user of them as I firmly believe that they are an awesome way to get massive discounts while you shop.

Take my case for example. I am currently on the look-out for a cheap but good notebook because of the oodles of work I have now that are web-based. Using Dell coupons is one way where I can save on such a purchase. Getting a big discount from Dell will definitely make my day!

Getting HIS groove back

I am talking about J. Yes, he has gone back to a past love of his — writing! Yay! :)

When I met J a few years back, he shared to me a couple of articles that he wrote in his spare time. Since then, he has not written a single piece. When asked why he has gone back to it, he replied that he feels compelled to do it. I’m glad his creative juices are flowing once again. I can’t wait to read his recent works! :)

Investing in the Future

Posted by A Matter of Perspective on Monday, October 15th, 2007 @ 9:28 pm in Personal - International.

In this day and age, you do not really know where fate takes you. In other words, we are not really certain what the future holds for us. Emergencies and other unexpected events come to you every now and then so it pays to be prepared just in case these things happen.

One thing you can do is to invest your money in something that does not depreciate over time. An excellent example would be to purchase gold or other precious metals. It is a good way to preserve your finances. Should an unfortunate event happen, you can always exchange this at a good rate. Nothing beats the good feeling of being secured money-wise.

Baby Hannah’s Site

Remember Baby Hannah, the little girl I wrote about who has Ondine's Curse? Well, her parents have finally managed to set up an account in Multiply recently. You can view her site here.

She is a beautiful baby! But when I started seeing her pictures in the hospital, with all those tubes connected to her, I just had to look away and close my browser. It broke my heart all over again. *sigh* I really do hope she gets well soon.

Communication challenges are a defining feature of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The social skill and behaviour difficulties demonstrated by these individuals are frequently related to their communication problems.

While it is common for educational programming to focus on enhancing expressive communication, comparatively little attention is directed towards supporting the student’s ability to understand. Research has shown that use of visual strategies supports communication, helps students organise their lives, reduces behaviour problems and increases functional communication.

This course provides a comprehensive framework that helps individuals focus their attention, understand communication and the demands of their world via a system of visual tools and aids that enhances comprehension and interaction with the surrounding.

Got the announcement. Now all I need are the plane and convention tickets. Sponsorships, anyone? And oh, can somebody take over my work while I'm gone?

Scranton Bets Big That The Office Fanatics Will Convene at Series' 'Branch'

Source: PR Newswire for Journalists
Oct. 10, 2007

SCRANTON, Pa., Oct. 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- NBC's Emmy-award-winning comedy series "The Office" sparks a fervent cult-like zeal in its fans that brings to mind the kind of fanaticism inspired by "Star Trek" or -- if you prefer the silver screen -- "Napoleon Dynamite." And as "trekkies" have so amply demonstrated, cults will rally around the objects of their devotion.

That's what Scranton, Pa. is betting on when it hosts the first-ever The Office Convention, the weekend of Oct. 26 through Oct. 28. (Tickets are now available via theofficeconvention.com.)

"The time has come for 'The Office' fans to unite, and the best place to do it is in Michael Scott's home -- Scranton," said Tim Holmes, The Office Convention committee member. "Think of it like a 'Star Trek' convention, but with nerds wearing Dwight Schrute glasses instead of Spock ears."

"The Office" fans will have plenty to rally around. NBC has confirmed the following cast members will be in Scranton during the convention weekend: Angela Kinsey (Angela), Melora Hardin (Jan), Leslie David Baker (Stanley), Brian Baumgartner (Kevin), Creed Bratton (Creed), Kate Flannery (Meredith), Mindy Kaling (Kelly), Oscar Nunez (Oscar), Phyllis Smith (Phyllis), Andy Buckley (David Wallace from Corporate) and Bobby Ray Shafer (Bob Vance -- Vance Refrigeration). Pieces from the series' wardrobe will also be traveling to Scranton for display.

Opposite!

Posted by on Monday, October 15th, 2007 @ 9:52 am in Miscellaneous.

A little video we took of my little Isabella playing a little game she invented with her mom called, “Opposite”… The game is simple:  Just say something negative to each other and then say, “Opposite”, at the end… hahaha… well, it’s cuter than it sounds… just watch, you see what I mean.  LOL!

An Ambigram of my name

Posted by Batang Yagit on Monday, October 15th, 2007 @ 9:27 am in Personal - Philippines.

Try reading the name Upside-down

Kuya Erik of the Peaceful Dystopia made an ambigram of my name. An ambigram is a graphical figure that spells out a word not only in its form as presented, but also in another direction or orientation. The text can also consist of a few words, and the the text spelled out in the other direction or orientation is often the same, but can also be a different text.

I first encountered ambigram in the Angels and Demons of Dan Brown. The book displayed several ambigrams which are fascinating. The ambigrams used in Brown's book were created by John Langdon.
