A good weekend (i have been having a lot of it lately)

Posted by on Tuesday, November 6th, 2007 @ 10:14 pm in Personal - International.

I was not able to do anything on All Hollows Eve, I was not able to visit our dead because I was stuck at the office, yes I had to work. I was not able to attend any Halloween party at all, which meant NO BOOZE FEST. At the office all i did was eat, there wasnt much work to be done since it was Halloween. In other words, BORING. This is probably the first time I did not spend All Saint's Day at the cemetery with the family and it was quite alright, except for the part when I go home late to a silent and cold night, desolate street, and empty apartment. FREAKY. But being alone that night got me thinking of a lot of things, and re-evaluating stuff. I would have to say I have never felt better and happier, especially in the past few weeks or so. Which is why Im not bothered that I spent a  major holiday at work. (and the OT pay is only 30% boo!)

Oh and why was my weekend good?

Beyond help

That's it! I give up. MC is just too much and he does not know when to stop!

I do not think the script I've installed on AngTherapist is enough anymore to prevent him from copying the articles in full without crediting us as his source. The script does disable right-clicks and highlighting but MC has been still successful in his attempts. I am at wits end to be honest. I wish I can just meet him in person and slap him in the face or say something utterly witty in the egroup so that he could be put to shame. But I do not want to stoop to his level. He is beyond disgusting! Gosh, he does not even deserve the time of day. :(

For life’s little surprises

Let us face it. Not all of us has a big savings account to fall back on. Every now and then, we get to spend on a few things that are not really part of our monthly budget. Sometimes, we get these unexpected expenses that we often find ourselves scratching our heads especially if we are short on cash. In these cases, usually we do not know where to get the extra money to cover the little pitfall.

Well, fear no more. In situations like these where you have got nobody you know who can spare you some extra dollars, there is a thing such as Faxless Payday Loans which is an option that we can run to. You can borrow anywhere from $100 to $1500. Why faxless? It is because you can now apply for those short-term loans online and once approved by a lender, they can wire the money to you through direct deposit to your personal bank account. It is as easy as that!

The Mabuhay Miles Great Giveaway

Now is the BEST time to redeem your Philippine Airlines miles.

Mabuhay Miles
, the frequent flyer program of Philippine Airlines (PAL), have lowered the redemption values by 50% to selected PAL domestic and international destinations through its Great Miles Giveaway program. A one-way economy class award ticket to Cebu would now only be 2,000 reward miles away. You only need 7,500 reward miles for a roundtrip vacation in Hong Kong.

Travel should commence not earlier than November 6, 2007 and should be completed by December 10, 2007.

Thanks for this promo I will be going to Puerto Princesa, Palawan for only 5,000 reward miles for a Business Class award ticket. I paid 2,324 pesos only for the fuel surcharge and government tax of my roundtrip airfare.

For more information and miles redemption call the 24-hour PAL Reservation Hotline at 855-8888 or 855-7888 (for Mabuhay Class).

Messed-up Weather

Remember some posts ago how I was complaining of the heat? Well, nowadays, I just might have to take that back. The past few days it has been raining and pretty cold that it seems like we are back to being in the winter season again. The strong winds and chilly nights are back. I suppose it partly explains the semi-lazy mood I'm in. I thought I was not going to see my sweatshirts and winter woolies anymore but I stand corrected! :(

Sweet Revenge

A famous quote once said, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." You bet! I think there is so much truth in that. :) Here is a perfect example of this. You wouldn't want that happening to you if your wife found you cheating, would you? Yeah, I thought so.

The guy forgot that the car was actually registered in his wife's name so she had every legal right to it. Maybe he was too busy two-timing his wife that he simply forgot this one important thing. And because the wife was so furious about her husband's philandering, she sold the car for only half its original price in the Used Cars section of a car-selling website in the UK, which also offers New Cars and Car Loans. A Cheap Jaguar is hard to get by these days so whoever gets to buy the car is one lucky person. I am sure it will not cost much to have the paint mishap repaired.

I hope that cheating husband has learned his lesson that it is never wise to mess things up with your woman. Look at the consequences that he now has to deal with. For one, he can kiss that lovely Jag goodbye.

World Diabetes Day

Posted by Ang Therapist on Tuesday, November 6th, 2007 @ 6:34 pm in Lifestyle, Miscellaneous.

Let us all celebrate the first United Nations observed World Diabetes Day (WDD) on November 14, 2007.

The General Assembly of the United Nations passed a landmark Resolution last December 20, 2006 recognizing diabetes as a chronic, debilitating and costly disease. World Diabetes Day as a United Nations Day is to be observed every year starting in 2007.

The campaign is being led by International Diabetes Federation.  The theme of this year’s World Diabetes Day campaign is Diabetes in Children and Adolescents. Diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases of childhood. It can strike children at any age, including pre-school children and even toddlers.

There are over 200 events registered to raise awareness of diabetes.  One wouldn’t want to miss  the WDD Monument Challenge.  More than 100 monuments around the world like the Sydney Opera House in Australia, the London Eye in UK, and the Empire State Building in New York, USA will light up in blue as ‘Beacons of Hope’ for the 246 million people living with diabetes worldwide.  Another way of marking WDD 2007 is the 246-Step Walk. This event would consider the burden of diabetes and remind healthcare policy and decision makers worldwide that we have a shared responsibility to improve the lives of people living with diabetes everywhere.

In the Philippines, there are three registered events. First is the Go Bike, Pilipinas! which will be simultaneously held on November 11 from 6 to 11 am, in the cities of Manila, Bacolod, and Cagayan De Oro. The second affair  “GIMIK DIABETES” will also be on November 11 at SMX Convention Center (Mall of Asia, Pasay City). The last one will be held on WDD itself.  This is the Global Diabetes Walk in Iloilo City.

PT/ OT Continuing Education on Diabetes.
The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) has a continuing education course on diabetes titled “Understanding Type 2 Diabetes: An Introduction” by Lisa L Culver, PT, DPT, MBA.

TherapyCEU.com, a division of Wild Iris Medical Education, also has an accredited course on Type 2 Diabetes for physical and occupational therapists.

ADVANCE for Occupational Therapy Practitioners has featured an article by Sandy Keefe, MSN, RN.  “Special Diabetes Education”   enlightens us on how many children with developmental disabilities can learn to manage their diabetes well.

And lastly, here is a quote from  WDD:

To do nothing in the face of the fast-growing pandemic is not an option.

Back to Work

Posted by A Matter of Perspective on Tuesday, November 6th, 2007 @ 6:00 pm in Personal - International.

Yesterday, being Melbourne Cup and all, was a holiday so J did not have to report to work. We did not go out and just stayed in for the entire day.

Notice that I only got to write one paid post. Well, after all the rush and madness last week, looks like the dust has settled and it's been pretty ho-hum yesterday. Besides I wasn't feeling creative so even if there were a few opps out there, I just wasn't keen about working yesterday. I don't think you can call it laziness because I managed to vacuum the entire house and cook lunch and dinner. I guess I just was not into it.

Today is a new day though. There are new (and more interesting opps) to write about too. Now that J's back in the office, I can hog the computer all to myself. Hehe! :P Alright, back to work for me!
