The Yellow Army is in town! Along with the personalities are various Noynoy & Mar election paraphernalia, collaterals and other voting wearable stuff like this Noynoy Baller ID.
Election in the Philippines is less than two months and I'm pretty decided that I am with the Yellow Army! Noynoy & Mar for the win!

About the sunglasses
"I had an interview once with some German journalist—some horrible, ugly woman. It was in the early days after the communists—maybe a week after—and she wore a yellow sweater that was kind of see-through. She had huge tits and a huge black bra, and she said to me, “It’s impolite; remove your glasses.” I said, “Do I ask you to remove your bra?”
On being P.C.
"Be politically correct, but please don’t bother other people with conversation about being politically correct, because that’s the end of everything. You want to create boredom? Be politically correct in your conversation."
On politics
"I’m in fashion. Politics is not my job. I don’t vote in France even though foreigners here can. I will never vote in my life."
On porn
"I admire porn. And I personally only like high-class escorts. I don’t like sleeping with people I really love. I don’t want to sleep with them because sex cannot last, but affection can last forever. I think this is healthy. And for the way the rich live, this is possible. But the other world, I think they need porn."
On fur and social climbers
"If you cannot afford it, just forget about it. Don’t use it as an investment piece to show people how rich you are. Use it like a cheap knitted thing. It’s like a big stone. Lucky you that you can have a big stone, but if it troubles you financially to have the stone, don’t have the stone... If you can afford it, OK. But if you think it’s an investment, then forget about it."
On material possessions
"It’s nice when you can afford something, but the minute you become a victim of it you shouldn’t keep it.
I was brought up to be detached. You can take nothing with you. There are very few important things, and they are not possessions."
On yoga
"One of my best friends does it all the time. It’s not my culture because I have not got much time."
On drug use
"I don’t take drugs. I prefer to see how drugs work on others. I saw others doing it and I didn’t think it was such a success."
On Andy Warhol
"I shouldn’t say this, but physically he was quite repulsive...He was not handsome."

Lazy Saturday
Posted on March 20th, 2010 No commentsPatrice urged me to watch "The Blind Side", so today Jeroen and I spent a lazy day in bed watching it.
Based on the true story of NFL player Michael Oher, a wealthy wife and mother of two named Leigh Anne Tuohy takes pity on a homeless black teen and takes her into her home as one of her own children.
I cried buckets, and not just in the end but in the middle of the movie. After the movie I kept thinking about it in the shower and a couple of hours later I was still crying.
Patrice said it reminded her of us because we adopted a little boy, but it reminded me of something else.
A few years ago, a security guard that used to work in our building back in 1995 looked for me at another building I was working in.
Mang Manny came by a few times to talk to me but I was not there. One day I chanced upon him at the parking lot. He told me he was homeless and was tired of sleeping at the park. He was scared of being mugged and getting sick. All his things were in his backpack.
I asked him why he was homeless and I gathered he was kicked out of his home by his in-laws and wife (they have a kid) because he hadn't worked in years.
I know my dad may kill me upon reading this, but I couldn't walk away.
Mang Manny didn't want a handout. It was so easy to give him money and say goodbye, but he wanted a job.
I made him ride our car and took him home.
The guard slept in our garage for weeks. I provided him with a mattress, food, and a place to take a bath.
I talked to a bodyguard agency to take him in and paid for his training and allowance.
When it became awkward for him to sleep in the garage, I spoke to one of the kind drivers in our village, who gladly rented out his floor to the guard for a fee.
Everyday after training, the guard would go home with the driver to sleep, so he had a better place to stay than our garage.
I didn't have a lot of money at that time and I was wondering how long I would pay for this guy's allowance. I was actually getting tired of it, so I prayed to Our Lady, please help me, I don't know what to do...
The following day I received a call from Mang Manny who said he finally got a job out of town, as a security guard and he thanked me for all my help. It was very timely. I remember now it happened on one of the feasts of Our Lady.
The movie made me think of Mang Manny. He was the nicest security guard, it makes you wonder how a guy like that could get thrown away from home. I think it's so un-Filipino.
Since that last phone call, I haven't heard from him. I hope God is taking care of him wherever he may be, and I thank God for making me brave that time as the situation felt really weird.
(And thank you Jeroen for going along with it. I guess you realize many times your wife is not normal and you let me do what I want, even though it's weird.)
