Happy Hearts Day

Posted by alohapenny on Thursday, February 14th, 2008 @ 3:17 am in Personal - International.

I haven't been out on a date during Valentine's Day, believe it or not. I’d rather stay home and watch movies and eat ice cream with the person, I don’t know, I find it embarrassing the same way I find carrying a bouquet of flowers embarrassing. LOL. What a weird huh? Back in school, I would always hate those who’d give me flowers (not that I was always given one, but I think it’s the lack of flower givers that made me feel awkward every time I got one) cus the bouquets are big and I can’t figure out a way to exit school premises without people noticing it. Also, I. AM. NOT. DEAD. So don’t give me flowers, give me chocolates instead, that’s what I’d always say. I’m not against Valentine’s though, plus it’s Kris Aquino’s birthday, another reason to celebrate it more. LOL. I don’t think lover and I have any plans for tonight…beer? No? I know we're alone, it sucks.

For those who have dates and/or a couple, have fun tonight, I hope you made reservations cus waiting in line outside a resto is not fun. Also leave early, cus traffic is awesome in the Philippines, didn't you know? You know what else ain't fun? If your date stood you up. Bah.  Got someone in mind? Well, HURRY. THE. FUCK. UP. and ask her/him already, what are you doing here reading? Did I not tell you about the restos being full and the awesome traffic? But then again, there's tomorrow or the day after, which is NOT V day anymore! What no date? Don't be bitter, you'll get one next year.

A text message I got this morning : Love with all your heart and accept the unlovable side of others. Anyone can love a rose, but very few and only a great heart can include the thorns. WHAT A GAY.

HAPPY HEARTS DAY EVERYONE!

Taking care of the oldies

Posted by alohapenny on Thursday, February 7th, 2008 @ 10:14 pm in Personal - International.

I haven't seen my grandma in a long long time. I think the last time I did was when I was in third grade, and she was here in the Philippines just for a vacation. Back then we had fun times, though it wouldn't last because she had to rest and all. Good thing I was really young so my parents and aunts were in charge of taking care of her. Now, I can't imagine how youngsters deal with it when they live with grandparents and have to take care of them especially when parents are not around. I would truly have a stressful time doing so. Even talking on the phone with an old lady, a customer (which is some of the perks of my job ;) ) Im really finding it difficult already, especially when they have trouble hearing. No wonder a lot of people send them to nursing homes.

I imagine being stressed when they would have so much complain about pains here and there, and I just wouldn't know what to do! But I think I found something that can help and I'm glad. Most kids are always on the internet these days and they could get almost everything out of it, when it comes to taking care of granparents, there is an answer too. YES. You can find a lot of helpful information on better caring for the elderly. The site even has this community forum that is most enjoyable. Not only would it help one attend to their grandparents, but it also adds to one's knowledge on healthcare among other things. I guess, you can now look forward to another day with Grandma, because Better Caring is just a click away!

Ushering the Year of the Rat in Singapore

Posted by Culture Shiok! Singapore OFW on Thursday, February 7th, 2008 @ 9:52 pm in Personal - International.

Gong Xi Fa Cai!

2008... another "Rat year". It's the first in the lunar calendar cycle and recurs every twelfth year. The Chinese New Year does not fall on a specific date, so it is essential to check the calendar to find the exact date on which each year actually begins.

It's a long holiday break here in Singapore with the first two days of the Chinese New Year falling on Thursday and Friday, respectively. Wednesday was declared a half-day working day. Some have taken official work leave to cover Monday and Tuesday.

A few weeks earlier, the sidewalks start to turn red with lanterns an other Chinese New Year decorations. Plants with auspicious colours and shapes like four seasons lime, lucky bamboo, pussy willow, chrysanthemums, zamioculca, went on sale. They are believed to bring a year of good luck and fortune. The nian gao, or year cake was also a hit.

There's an annual Chinatown Street Light-up. Disney's Mickey and Minnie MOUSE, along with other Disney characters, were used on the arches along the main streets of Chinatown. Many Singaporeans expressed unhappiness with the idea.

There's also a fireworks display at the Marina Bay area. The Esplanade Bridge was closed as this is where they set-up the pyrotechnics. Firecrackers are banned here in Singapore, so the New Year fireworks display is only one of the few instances you can see and hear a "controlled" show.

It's late and my shift starts in 4 hours, but Im still awake. Im tired cus I just got home from the province, but im still cleaning my room. I should be grumpy and shit because of all this, but im singing to NE-YO's Because of You. Oh the giddies...will somebody wipe this stupid smile off my face? And why am I seeing hearts everywhere?

(Puzzle photo taken here. You're suppose to find seven hearts hidden in the picture, which i found in a matter of 3 seconds, i dunno cus its almost Valentine's?)

Mailboxes etc.

Posted by alohapenny on Tuesday, January 29th, 2008 @ 5:28 am in Personal - International.

I find mailboxes really cute, don't you just love them? I used to love drawing as a kid, who doesn't? And I specifically remember every time I drew a house, with a garden and a doghouse, I can never forget the mailbox out front. The traditional residential mailboxes I drew, I color them yellow and then red for the flag. I even had a lunch box which is a total replica of a mailbox, not as big though. During the time I got it as a gift, I was a little too old to bring lunch boxes to school so I put it in my room and placed stationeries in it. As a kid, you would only have one image of a certain thing in your mind. That's how I imagined mailboxes, yellow box and red flag, I never thought it had so many variations like the commercial mailboxes, single and multi unit mailboxes, one that you can mount on your wall, and post mount mailboxes. Nowadays, it is being manufactured by a lot of big companies who are dedicated to high quality and sold all over the world.

INTERNET marketing bootcamp

Posted by alohapenny on Monday, January 28th, 2008 @ 3:26 am in Personal - International.

You might be wondering what I did during the weekend. I actually did something worthwhile and I was sober, mkay? That's right no booze fest for me. Im always on duty during the past weekends so I can't really get hammered. Anyways, what did I do? Well, I went to the Internet Marketing Bootcamp, a one day seminar on online marketing which was conducted by US Auto Parts Philippines, a BPO company that provides online marketing services.

For someone (I mean me) who started blogging around 2005 and is getting the hang of it just around 2007 (shut up) this bootcamp was rather informative. They talked about a lot of important stuff like SEO and SEM, affiliate marketing, and web analytics. My knowledge about these things are minimal and I learned them as I was blogging. So this bootcamp really enlightened me. I just hope I can properly use what I've learned. ;) The seminar was followed by a jobfair, unfortunately I did not bring my resume. :( I really found it intersting and do you remember my #4 on this list, hhmmm could this be the first step to a new career? My options are open. Anyway, the bootcamp is held weekly, every Saturday, until March 1st. For those of you who really want to learn, I suggest you read the details and request for an invite here now.

Las Vegas Smile Make Over

Posted by alohapenny on Saturday, January 26th, 2008 @ 8:28 am in Personal - International.

I used to have crooked teeth and so I wore braces. Of course my teeth were fixed, however, it was too soon to take my braces off even if my teeth were already corrected. I didnt see anything wrong with taking them off, in fact, I hated having them on, but now I see why I shouldn't have insisted doing so. MY TEETH ARE GOING BACK TO BEING CROOKED LITTLE BY LITTLE! It's unnoticeable though, but I consulted the dentist already and its gonna take about as much money if I had braces again, it doesnt matter that used to have them before because we're starting from scratch. It's hard to smile nowadays. Oh those celebrities are somehow lucky specially those who can consult Las Vegas cosmetic dentist. That is why they always have pretty smiles, they have nicer and whiter teeth. Definitely worth showing off to everyone around. He's not just your ordinary dentist, I’m talking about cosmetic dentistry. It's just one cool make over, I'd say. There are several procedures available that could just do the magic for everyone. There are so much make overs being offered in the market now, but this is something I think worth investing on. I hope you will consider the one that's really essential and hygienic. Cosmetic dentistry must be the one for you. So you can go ahead and flash that winning smile!

On going global

Posted by alohapenny on Saturday, January 26th, 2008 @ 1:44 am in Personal - International.

Is there anybody around in this age of technology that has not gone online or is not a member of a global network? I honestly think there is one, even if everyone in this world is  becoming internet savvy.  Oh well, except the newborn of course!  I am just overwhelmed that there are so much brilliant minds that create and offer a site for one to be able to join a global network.  I mean there is so much opportunity for you to just be yourself, express yourself, meet people from different parts of the world.  The link and connection is just amazing! These social and global networks have allowed a lot of kids today, like Neil Crespi, to be more creative and outgoing. In relation to this, I am in awe of young minds creativity in writing - - reading their blogs and publications eats up a lot of my internet tiime - - reaching globally and getting global attention, what more could you ask for?  All you have to do is spend 30 seconds of your precious time to sign up and go global! You wouldn’t regret having done so.

Reirement planning

Posted by alohapenny on Friday, January 25th, 2008 @ 7:11 pm in Personal - International.

My mom retired recently, she's not old though, so she had to avail of the early retirement plan that her workplace offered. Of course my mom, like any other person who retired, would want to make sure this won’t just go to wastage and losses so she planned carefully and alloted everything appropriately. Some people even take time to schedule consultation sessions with experts on money matters, estates, taxes, wills and testaments. I, too, would definitely want everything arranged properly for family and loved ones. You see, accounting is never my cup of tea, but Thank God for people who are ready to help! Just like in the San Diego estate law, retirement has never been exciting and this rewarding. Im sure there are services like that here, I really look forward to investing wisely my hard-earned money. Just imagine never fearing on loss of my money just on taxation and fees or money not going where it should go! You can now find a lot of accounting, taxation and estate professionals, who are ready to assist you make an informed decisions on all these matters.  So I would encourage you, to shelter your assets, it is after all the wisest thing to do.

Save more with Savebuckets

Posted by alohapenny on Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008 @ 12:43 am in Personal - International.

I haven't really tried buying anything online because I always thought it was difficult. Im the type of shopper who spends a lot of time just trying to decide what brand to buy or which is a better product. A typical Libra, I weigh the pros and cons of all things, and that includes things I shop for. I try to look and compare every feature, that's why it takes me a long time shopping. I just don't want to make a mistake or regret my purchase. That's why I never opted for online shops because I couldn't really see the product, not unless Im buying something that I have been using before. Good thing I saw Savebuckets, its a free online shopping service which helps you search for the products you like and even quote a price that you can afford. This will really save you money. Nowadays, more people are inclined to gadgets and gizmos like laptops, mp3 players, digicams and cellphones and there are a lot of shops offering these products. With Savebuckets you can choose from an array of stores that offer the best in quality and they have this feature where you can send them your price range, they will then respond by sending you an email with the  link of the shop that matched your budget. They also offer online comparison of products' prices, this can guide you and would make it easier for you to choose. The website is easy to navigate and user-friendly. It shows you pictures of the products, its specifications and features for easier comparison with other brands.

Five things I want in 2008

Posted by alohapenny on Sunday, January 20th, 2008 @ 10:56 pm in Personal - International.

What? Two weeks without updates and you come back with a meme? My shift sucks cus im at primetime. Hello outages, hello mail support, hello escalations, hello coaching. Gaah. Good thing I found time to answer this meme, also because this Ade person did it on his website! Ok, Its hard to think of just five things because I still don't have half of the stuff that was on my Christmas list. But the meme that I got tagged with wants just five. gaah. From the list I had, I just bought the PSP and a new phone (not the N95 though :() but its ok cus I know I will get them this year. *crosses fingers* So, what else am I wishing for? Think, think, think... AHA!!

1. I want to go diving in Palau  - It is, after all, #1 in the underwater wonders of the world because of its rich marine habitat. With the summer season fast approaching and Palau being near the Philippines, I wouldn't mind flying there to see their famed Rock Islands, spend a good week (or at least 5 days) under their waters (err...) or just basking under the sun, sipping pinacoladas, listening to good music, aahhh the life.

2. I want a car or my own condo unit - I have been asking my parents for a car since graduation and well, you know how parents are, they would always answer "Baket hindi ka maghanap ng magandang trabaho at magipon ka ng pambili mo?" (Why dont you look for a job that pays good and save up for a car?) I always say, the rule about money is to never spend your own. Well, obviously that didnt help. Now, we all know about my house trouble, so I want my own place that way I dont have to worry about housemates leaving or rent shares. Of course, this should be bought by my parents too. hehe :D

3. I want my own domain - I just want one. Should I get one? I kinda like tweaking with designs and templates for fun. What a geek this Penny.

4.  I want a new job, I guess? - Not that I hate my job, its still ok, but there are times that it seems boring, it doesnt have the same sparkle it did when I first got here. I dunno, maybe because I've been in this industry for two years now doing the same thing. Although, I haven't taken any steps in finding a new job and I don't feel the urgency to do so, YET. My job pays a lot, but it goes mostly to bills, so how else could I afford want #1 and #3 and all the others?

Lastly, and the most important one,

5. I  WANT TO GAIN WEIGHT!! -  I say this with conviction! Its been, what? Two months since I found out that I lost 6 pounds and said that Im trying to get it back. Well, guess what, I lost two more. I don't know why. Do you guys know of some weight gaining, whatever, I could take/do? Something that isnt illegal and safe. Or, will somebody use voodoo on me and make me fat? IM KIDDING.

Oh and also, I want to put up a bar/resto/grill, I did not study business for 4 years just to sit around and talk to crazy people who do not deserve to have computers and dsl connection. I want my own bar so I have a place where I can get hammered every night and host booze fests all weekend, without paying! Coz I own the place! LoLz

The year in Singapore (as seen in YouTube)

Posted by Culture Shiok! Singapore OFW on Monday, December 31st, 2007 @ 4:28 am in Personal - International.

This is a collection of YouTube videos compiled and published in The Sunday Times as Singapore's YouTube Hits, videos "that made the headlines this year". The total number of views varies so I didn't include what was initially published. I also changed some titles. Enjoy!

1. SAF ghost

2. Funny professor

3. Bullied trishaw uncle

4. Civil servants' rap

5. Models "stripping" on radio show

6. Youth beatings (happy slapping)

7. Heartland scuffle (This is Singapore!)

8. Repeal 377A

9. Leaked MRT suicide footage

go find it yourself... it's still there... somewhere...

10. Mocking teachers

The video "Nation Builders" was not included. It's one of my favorites. It comes in two parts. An eye-opener, if not a gentle reminder.

The plastic surgery post

Posted by alohapenny on Monday, December 31st, 2007 @ 12:22 am in Personal - International.

Plastic surgery is everywhere. Most of the celebrities, despite the young age, opt for getting something changed, whether its their nose, lips, cheeks and even their chin. Although admittedly, it is sometimes a solution to those who have certain conditions affecting their health or lifestyle, or to those had been in accidents and whose appearances are ruined. Some even seek the best surgeons in town and are willing to pay large sums of money just to get their look back, if not better. If they can't find one, some resort to having the surgery done out of the country like in Washington DC plastic surgery. In show business, it seems as if a necessity, you always see actresses getting nose jobs even if they don't need it. Once the tabloids are on their backs, they finally admit it and use a lame excuse like, they did it to rid them of a condition like a deviated septum. Recently, the star of High School Musical, Ashley Tisdale had a nose job and used that reason, she specified that she did it to help herself and not for vanity purposes. Hmmm, I think I remember Ashlee Simpson using the same excuse.

A holiday getaway I wish I had

Posted by alohapenny on Friday, December 28th, 2007 @ 3:32 pm in Personal - International.

2007 is almost over, and what better way to cap the year than a great getaway with family. This was precisely what we had although we did not leave the country. I, along with my sisters and cousins, actually just went back to our hometown to celebrate the Christmas season. It was one heck of a reunion. It was just fun because it has been a very long time since we last saw each other.

Although it would have been more fun if we went on a tour out of the country! Imagine making the most of the Christmas holidays by coming to Spain. You can enjoy the season with their many ways and traditional modes of celebration. During this time of the year, the towns and the streets are decorated making it look incredibly magical. The city I would love to see is Barcelona and this is because of the two largest beaches in it, San Sebastia and Barceloneta. These beaches are the most frequented and oldest in the city. And in order to enjoy the trip, you have to have a good budget. There are a lot of affordable Barcelona Hotels and you can easily book one online. Another European country I'd like to visit would be Germany. Truly a country rich in culture. I just love the energy exuded by Berlin, the country's biggest and most populated city. Their nightlife is just vibrant, with all the night clubs, bars and my favorite, techno clubs! Of course, like any country they have museums too. I am a fan of art so I definitely want to check out the museums in Berlin where they showcase more of their culture and its roots. Dont worry about Berlin Hotels because there's a lot of them to choose from. A Eurotrip wouldn't be complete if you don't go to Paris. I think its the most romantic city in the world. I watched a few episodes of The Bachelor and they were in Paris, it was beautiful. Especially when they went up the Eiffel Tower. If I had a lot of money right now i would definitely book a vacation from one of the Paris Hotels and fly right away. Another tourist attraction would be the Louvre museum, we've all seen The Da Vincci Code right? I would surely love to see Mona Lisa up close. There's a lot of things you can do in Paris, whether its dining out at a sidewalk cafe or having coffee, the experience would be truly amazing. I dont think I can sleep when I go there. Lastly, you cant leave Europe without going to London of course. I wanna go there and say hi to Prince William, oh the giddies! haha! On a serious note, London is home to a lot of artists, in lit, film and music industry. There is a whole strip of bars, clubs, cinemas and restaurants. They also celebrate Europe's largest street festival every summer. The city is just wonderful, especially its wide array of cuisine. I always enjoy watching specials on TV about it. What I would love to see is the London Eye a.k.a. the Millenium Wheel, the view from there would be absolutely incredible. And with this city being so royal and all Im pretty sure the London Hotels would treat visitors like prince and princesses.

So much for dreaming right? I did enjoy my holiday with the family, we were able to bask in the sun, while enjoying the view of a serene blue seas and munching mouth-watering delicacies. Well, Im sure one of these days I will visit Europe, I hope its soon though.

On gambling

Posted by alohapenny on Thursday, December 20th, 2007 @ 10:33 pm in Personal - International.

I don't really gamble that much, and I've only been to a casino once, I was with my parents and I can tell how fun it is just by looking at the high rollers express their joy when they double their money. Oh and also, if you've read my previous post, our year end party had the theme Las Vegas and I also tried my luck at gambling there. Those are the only times I've encountered a casino. One of the reasons why I haven't been to casinos is because of my age of course, and we all know that's no longer a problem. I am now of legal age and therefore I can enter any casino if I wanted too. The other reason, however, which is preventing me from going is, time. That's right! I haven't found the time to try out casinos now that I actually can. But I'm not worried because I found www.TopUsaOnlineCasinos.com which is a website full of reviews on online and SAFE gambling destinations. It's a guide that helps not only those like me who don't have time to go to a real casino, but also those players who are in constant search of their luck and have the money to do so. At TopUsaOnlineCasinos.com, online casinos are ranked and arranged accordingly to their payout rates, number of games, options for depositing and the website's user friendly navigation. To make sure that these infos are accurate, these online casinos are ranked by pro poker and blackjack players themselves! The website gives clear information that is easy to access and every user can navigate through it with ease. Why don't you check it out!

With Christmas lurking around the corner I have been invited to parties here and there. I was not able to go to  most of them, but thanks to my schedule, I was able to attend two of those parties. Also, I have been ranting a lot about not being online or being busy with work and the stress from it all, including the house mate and/or house hunting thing, this has prevented me from going shopping for my christmas wishlist. I haven't even had the money time to buy  all my Christmas gifts, so I'll prolly make a quick trip to the mall on Friday before I go home to the province. Which would also mean IM gonna be BROKE the whole holiday. :( Oh wells, I go entertain you with pictures nao.

Our company's year end party, which is held...well...every end of the year (almost), was themed Viva Las Vegas.  After being stressed for thinking so much about being unique and not having the same costume with anyone else, I decided to be a gangster/mob/mafia princess. READ: for me it was the coolest slutty costume the innarnets came up with, and no i don't want to wear a showgirl costume.

Need cash right away?

Christmas is just a few days from now, and everyone knows that during this holiday, people have money to spend. Everyone is rushing to shopping malls in order to buy gifts for their family and friends. A cute handbag for your teen sister, silverware for your mother, perhaps a cool gadget like an ipod or a laptop for yourself. Who wouldn't want such things for Christmas? Believe me, I've been creating my wish list since October and I have yet to purchase everything on it, and the list goes on!

But what if it wasn't Christmas? Not everyone has the luxury of receiving bonuses at this time of the month, heck not even everyone receives enough during payday to afford these things, whether their gadgets, gizmos, or vacation trips. Well, worry no more! For payday loans is here. This is a great alternative or solution to your money problems. These type of loans are available right away, especially to those who need it fast, or when the payday is still out of sight. This is great for emergencies since the online application process is very easy, and in a while you can fund your account, whether its personal savings or checks.

There are a few qualifications of course, but the beauty of it is, you don't have to have a credit level. At www.cashadvance1500.com, you can loan as much as $1,500 even if you have poor credit. You can do it easily at the comfort of your home! The website is user-friendly and easy to understand, if you are still uncertain, you can read through its advantages, everything else is listed there. With payday loans, I'm sure everyone can have a feast even if its not a holiday.

I got tagged twice, again!

Ok this draft has been sitting and gathering dust in my folder, sorry Kimmy! Here's the meme, I'm done with it, and if you want to know why its late, well because I've been busy! I haven't even logged in to my warbook look :

Before :

After :

Kimmy tagged me with this question: At your lowest point, whom do you turn to when you think there’s no one else left around but you?

I was never the type of person who would run to someone, or anyone for that matter, for (emotional) help. I see it as a weakness, and I don't want others to see me that way. I do have friends who I can talk to and I'm thankful for having them around. Its a way of relieving stress, especially if I have a lot on my plate, it always makes me feel good if I was able to vent out my frustrations. But during my lowest points, I always find myself staring at the four corners of my room wallowing in pain. Yes, I'm emo like that. I don't like talking to people about my problems when I'm at my lowest, but after a while I get over it and I find myself opening up to a (trusted) friend. For me, the only person who can truly help you is yourself.

Let me be a killjoy just this once. As I grew up, the spirit of Christmas just didn’t appeal to me anymore. It had just become a mere holiday for me, another excuse not to come to work. I think it’s lost its essence because of people who only do good during this time of the year. If you really want to help the less fortunate, plan something long-term; don’t be a Santa Claus to them. Teach them to fend for themselves for crying out loud. Don’t make their situation worse by spoon-feeding them with goodies, groceries, and the like. Give them something they can make a living out of. How about craft lessons? That’d be more useful. Food will be gone in a few days, but lessons learned will last a lifetime. -Con Fuoco

I always get excited when December comes, of course its Christmas! Its the time of the year you get to celebrate not only with your family but with everyone around the world. As a kid, I was always excited mainly because of the gifts I will receive and the money that the ninongs and ninangs would give. But as I grew older, Christmas became less attractive. I am now obliged to give gifts myself, I am now a ninang to numerous inaanaks, some I don't even get to see, therefore I have no idea what to give (or what sizes to give them) its somehow a pain in the neck. The thing that I love though, and I'm sure I speak for others who belong to the working class as well, would be receiving money (bonuses, incentives, etc.) almost every week. But like any other impulsive buyer, our wallets burn holes as quick as a cat could blink its eye, that's the part that sucks. But still nothing beats getting to celebrate it with your family, I'm thankful that despite the industry I'm in, I still get to celebrate such holidays with them and not forced to go to work. - alohapenny

For the love of Ma Ling….

Posted by Culture Shiok! Singapore OFW on Saturday, December 15th, 2007 @ 7:53 am in Personal - International.

You'll only realise how important some things are only when they're gone.

It's been a while since Ma Ling luncheon meat was pulled out from supermarket shelves here in Singapore. It's seems like eternity for die-hard Ma Ling fans, whom most grew up eating the canned luncheon meat. Those who are used to munching slices of Ma Ling in their Nasi Lemak or economical beehoon are feeling the loss. Some have included the return of the luncheon meat in their Christmas wishes, while some have reported X-Files-style "sightings". Some are not as optimistic and just simply turned to other luncheon meat brands like Tulip (Denmark) and Spam (USA).

Ma Ling luncheon meat is about as famous in China as Spam is in the U.S. Shanghai-based Maling Food Co. is investigating allegations that a shipment of its meat was contaminated with the banned antibiotic nitrofurans, which is thought to cause cancer. The export ban to Singapore covers all Ma Ling brand canned-food products which includes meat, fruits and vegetables.

The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) ensures that food processing plants will be able to meet its food safety standards, which are in line with international standards. It's only then that the exports of canned pork products will resume.

So will Ma Ling luncheon meat ever see the light of day again?

Singapore: Christmas in the Tropics

Posted by Culture Shiok! Singapore OFW on Wednesday, December 12th, 2007 @ 11:09 am in Personal - International.

The lighting-up of Orchard Road signals the start of the Christmas season here in Singapore. During this month-long celebration, now famously known as "Christmas in the Tropics", visitors won't fail to feel the festive spirit just by walking along Orchard Road. Christmas carol singing and colorful light displays never fail to inspire each and every passerby.

I like this year's lights as they are not the usual bright yellow lights that would eventually make yours eyes feel hot just by looking at them. The lights over Orchard Road are a bit dim, the not-so-very-bright-white type, and would give you a feeling that you're looking at the stars. Stars are seldom seen here in Singapore, unlike in other places.

Have a Whimsical Christmas!
